Rubber grips have always been my preference for handguns. It's good gun control I want during a fight, not to impress the ladies.

Well I went with the Kimber Ultra Carry. Put it on Lay -a-way this afternoon. Now I can wait to pay off the gun while I wait on the CHL. Dang that's a lot of waiting.

My defender was perfect out of the box. I've got just over 1000 rds thru it with no problems whatsoever. It was the same with my Officers Model. My only gripe with either is that they need a better trigger.

Tom, why don't you like to carry with rubber grips? I prefer them over wood for CCW...
They seem to pull or drag on my clothing and I feel like will show that I'm carrying.

All my 1911 type mags are McCormick and I (like another poster) never carry with rubber grips.
Rubber grips are great for folks that don't carry full time but (most) rubber grips are entirely too "sticky" and tend to hang up on clothing.

I carry full time and the 'sticky' aspect of the rubber grips drive me crazy. In the pocket, they stick. I usually use a IWB holster for belt carry and rubber grips pull my shirt tail out and grab the jacket, making me look more like a clown than usual. Plus, I think they are UGLY. And life is too damn short to carry an ugly gun.

My SS Kimber looks nice with the black rubber grips. And she sings to me :)
