Washington Mutual.
Never seen a 30-06 of any kind in any of the banks I have entered.

Never seen one in any other bank I have been in either come to think of it.

Have seen some ghostbuster signs. Don't remember where as they don't pertain to me.

Seen some 30-06 signs in credit unions though.

What likelyhood

Despite what the law says about proper posting of 30.06, what are the chances that a Texas LEO would arrest someone packing concealed with CHL, if they were discovered, for only a ghostbuster sign on a bank?? Would it be one of those things where they would respect the bank owners wishes over the letter of the law??

No, the Legislature came up with 30.06 specifically for this. I bank at Wells Fargo and they don't post anything. If they posted a 30.06 compliant sign, I would change banks. If they post the ghostbusters sign I would still carry.

How would a LEO know I am carrying anyway? If a LEO did discover my weapon and wanted to be a hard ass, I suspect he would charge "intentionally fail to conceal", rather than trespass, as trespass clearly does not apply.

I visited my bank (Dyess Federal Credit Union in Abilene, downtown location) today, they have white letters on a dark tinted window in between the two front doors that has a circle/slash over a handgun and wording that says 'NO FIREARMS ALLOWED'.

That's it. Not even a Spanish translation.

At the other branch on Dyess Air Force Base, they don't even have that, don't need anything since carry on a military base is prohibited and way too risky to try.

Non-Legal Sign

My credit union has a NO GUNS sign painted on a window next to the front door. Having just completed my CHL class I informed one of the tellers that the sign was not legal. She had no idea what I was talking about.

A manager overheard our conversation and informed me that they plan to post the correct 30.06 sign in the near future.

The present sign has been posted for over 2 years.[/b]

That's exactly why many people advise against educating businesses that ban.

I hope you told the manager that you'd be closing your account as soon as a 30.06 sign goes up.

I had posted this on a different thread, but that I would repeat it because it still blows my mind. The Bank of the West in Irving on Airport Frwy has a universal NO for the gun and then read and I quote: "No firearms unless licensed Texas law enforcement or you have registered your firearm with the bank"

My credit union had a 30.06 sign posted at one point. It was black letters on clear vinyl applied to the back of a dark brown tinted window. The ONLY way you could see it was as you were walking OUT and the sun happen to be behind it.

Now my family has been using this CU for 30 some odd years and I've had an account there since I was 6 weeks old. For simplicity of transferring money back and forth, it's easiest if I keep my account there.

I almost had my letter to the president done, and decided to go by and check it out again to make sure I didn't forget any of the details about how it was posted. Low and behold the thing was gone! Until I walked out and noticed it had just been moved. It was now a foot off the ground and positioned behind a decorative potted TREE. The only reason I noticed it this time was that when they reapplied it to the glass they left a few big air bubbles in it, which just made it that much harder to read. I figured that if they went to that much trouble to hide it, I could go to that much trouble to ignore it and use the drive through.

Nevertheless, they just remodeled the whole front of the building and I haven’t spotted one yet so maybe it was left out of the plans. ;-)

I would not expect a teller to know anything about 30.06 and would never tell anyone they had an illegal sign, I just assume the sign is meant for people without a CHL.

After thinking about this one I have to have to come back to it, to me there are no such thing as an ILLEGAL sign, they have the right to post any sign they want, if it's not a place written somewhere in the law that would make that place off limits to a CHL we ignore the sign if it is not compliant with 30.06.
