My FIL got some ammo during a gift-exchange game during Christmas, and it was a horrible box of reloads. The primers were bent within the case and the bullets were crookedly seated.
I guess the guy thought it was a white elephant gift exchange. :???:

I was waiting for your input. How's the Spanish coming along?

SSG,

Federal only catalogues two +P+ 9mm rounds - - - the 124 gr hydrashock and the 115 gr classic both are "law enforcement" loadings. The 124 gr load ( P9HS3G1) is a hydrashock bullet in a nickle case. The 115 gr load (9BPLE) is a standard hollow point in a brass case. Both are excellent loads with good stopping records.

Here is a link to Federal's LE site. http://www.le.atk.com/Interior.asp?sect ... atical.asp
click on classic and hydrashock for specs.

It's coming along pretty well. In just two weeks, my working vocabulary of Spanish has about doubled, at least. The full-immersion program works, at least for me.

He came to see me today and confirmed that they are the 115gr version. Apparently his department ( very large Dallas Suburb) went with them as a result of a 96% effective rate reported by the BP when they formerly used is this round. ??? Makes sense, but I don't know any of the details. I am not sure how old they are though because his depratment uses mostly .45 and .40 now.

Thanks for the info.

Glad to hear it. Congrats, and keep us updated.

USBP never used this round as an issue item, therefore there is no percentile effectiveness by the USBP. Please see my post (above).

To the best of my knowledge, the Border Patrol has never used 9mm. We went from Ruger GP-100s (.357 Mag) to Beretta 96s (.40 S&W) to HK P2000s (also .40).

The ammunition may be something that Customs, the now defunct INS, or the FBI used at one point, but it wasn't from us.
