I'm not sure who makes an ankle holster for the Steyr, but if you head over to http://www.steyrclub.com they have a sticky topic in the forums section with a link to a ton of manufacturers that make Steyr holsters. That would be your best bet.

I personally don't own an S-model. I have an M40A1. I'm looking at getting an S9 sometime in the next year though. They are just a smaller model of the M series. Great pistols.

I can attest to that both SRVA and I have about 100,000 rounds through each of our primary Steyr M9s. the compact version are just as reliable.

I was starting to think I was the only Steyr fan around here. Although, to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me. I've had various gun store employees as me "Steyr makes pistols?" when I was shopping for mine, and even one who insisted I was talking about an SPP and trying to sell me one...

You could pickup a Glock 36 (sub-compact .45 ACP) and use the same mags from your 21 should you need more than 6+1 rounds from the 36.

Just a note that it's the G30 that has interchangeable mags with the G21. The G36 is a single-stack.

Thanks Xander for the info. on "short barrel" stuff. I notice for the 9s what's shown at ammotogo is +P. Everbuddy trying to get me to beat up the Baby Kahr.

With the nature of my job, I am in a vehicle 70% of the time, in full gear with my Carbine. As such, ankle and cross draw holsters are the best option for a BUG. That brings up a good point for the avg. Joe out there: Practice mock carjackings in your real vehicle & drawing your sidearm with the seatbelt on--you might find you need to invest in a crossdraw or ankle holster. As such, my primary carry method has always been strong side while on foot detail, with my BUG in an ankle rig.
I think you need to stay flexible when you decide to arm yourself, I own a bag full of holsters, so I can dress accordingly.

They were all company issued sidearms for the specific contract, 2 Glock 17's (FailToFeed) and 1 Sig P226 (Stovepipe).

In defense of the Glocks, the feed lips on the mags got bent in the hustle--The Sig had been dropped during a quick evac, which may or may have not caused it.

An auto is only as good as it's mags--stuff happens in combat. Check those feed lips!
