Mike, I love that gas block and muzzle break. What kind are they?

Go here and you can build and play until you're heart's content. http://www.del-ton.com

I bought everything from them. Great people to work with. My rifle was originally going to be 8 weeks to ship due to the barrel and furniture I had chosen, but they called me and offered me a different barrel (upgrade) at no extra charge since the barrel I wanted was back ordered and we worked out the issue on the furniture and I had the gun in about 2 weeks. Sent me tracking info and everything.

I went with the 16" M4 rifle kit, 1x7 DTI chrome lined barrel, 4 rail gas block, 4 way ultra light handrail, Magpul CTR stock, ERGO sure grip, and lower parts kit with the Rock River 2 stage trigger. If you buy the 2 stage trigger with the LPK, it only costs $80. If you buy it separately it will run $125.

Add ons include Eotech 551, Lasermax Unimax with pressure pad, Insight M3X tac light, Surefire M951KIT02 weapons light with 120 lumen lamp and IR Filter, Blackhawk single point tactical sling, Magpul 30 round PMAG(s) with sight window, magpul ladder rail covers and SOG vertical forened grip.

As for the lower, at the last gun show in Fort Worth, there was a company selling DPMS stripped lowers for $109 out the door.

Market Hall is this weekend.

The gas block is a YHM 4 way gas block. The break is a YHM Phantom aggressive end. I've heard it called a door buster too since it's solid on the end instead of open like a flash hider.

Ok, so why does it need a chrome lined barrel? I'm tinkering with the idea of building one, but I want to understand some of the intricacies involved before I start gathering parts.

A chrome lined barrel isn't an absolute necessity. It just makes it easier to clean and less prone to fouling. I believe you can shoot tracers through a chrome lined barrel as well.
