Why? Is a city or state owned location unable to ban CHL holders?
Correct. TPC §30.06 expressly does not apply to property owned or leased by a governmental entity, unless it property already off limits to CHL's such as courtrooms, etc.

It's a legal slang term refering to a federal civil rights violation/suit.

OK. But how can it be a federal violation of a state statute?
To improperly use government authority to deny someone their civil rights, even if it's a right only guaranteed at the state level, is "deprivation of rights under color of law". That's a violation of federal law.

There is no federal law of which I'm aware that says a local cop can't beat someone he arrests, but egregious cases are often prosecuted by the feds as §1983 violations. Remember Abner Louima, the Haitian immigrant who was abused with a plunger handle in a NYPD bathroom? Two officers were convicted of federal charges in that case. There are numerous other examples.

Found this thread from last year. Since it's that time of year again I ressurrected it to ask if anyone knows if the silly 30.06 signs are going back up again?

I have been out of the arena for a while, BUT....

FFA (Future Farmers of America) are a huge part of the stock show and they are a school organization, hence you are not allowed to carry at a school sponsored activity. :rules:

4H is not school sponsored everywhere, but FFA showers are everywhere.

They may just post the 30.06 to give a heads up. Wrong to do, but many spectators do not know about the school sponorship part of the show.

I would like to see them try to stop the dippin' and chewin' that the under 18 year olds do. "rlol" I used to chew just to tolerate the smell.

Thanks for the help. I didn't even think about the FFA /school thing.
Last year when we went, I came in an enterance in the southwest corner of the property and never saw a 30.06 sign. After trying to see if they had any info on there official site and texas3006 I found this thread.
We have tickets already for this year but I wanted to make sure what the deal was before going all the way out there, having to park far away (like last year) and then have to turn around and leave the weapon in the car.
