So, I contacted SA and was told to run at least 400 rounds through it, which I have done, and they then said I should send it back to them for testing/repairs. From what I've read on here, it sounds like they will be prompt and resolve this problem. I'll let you know what happens when I get it back. Thanks again for all of the replies!

---I have no dremmel. Wouldn't that just polish the feed ramp? The problem I'm having is with the firing pin not striking the primer hard enough to make it go boom. It puts a small dent in it, but no explosion.

i apologize i didnt catch the part where you said you had failure to fires. i threw a pen into the bbl and dry fired it and my firing pin basically poked a hole into the bottom of the pin. *shrugs*

hope you get it fixed!

sounds like a new firing pin spring is in order. maybe a new recoil spring would help with lockup.

or you could be a Glock...

I just tried your pencil test and nada, zip, zero, zilch! No movement of the pencil at all. I was looking at where the firing pin comes through the fp stop and it seems to be sitting flush with the stop. All the times I've cleaned it, I've noticed how tight it is in the stop. I'm beginning to think either the hole in the stop or the pin itself doesn't have the proper spacing. I'm calling SA on Monday to get authorization for return. :waiting:

heh just tried it with my G17 and the pencil shot out of a fury and stuck into the celing like a dart like when we were kids in school.
I could have a lot of fun with this.

Good News!!!!! I got my EMP back from SA. It was a pretty quick turnaround. I sent it out to them on April 29th, received on the 30th. I got it back in just over a week. They have replaced the firing pin and spring. I'm taking it out to the range this weekend. I'll post a follow-up report on the repairs.

That was extremely fast. I have heard good things about Springfield's Service Dept.

Would love to hear your experience at the range....

Range Report---

After receiving my SA EMP 9mm back from the service department at Springfield for service on the firing pin and spring due to FTFires, I took it out to the range today and am happy to report that I didn't have a single FTE or FTF while putting about 200 rounds through it! It shot smoothly and accurately like it was designed to do. I am now extremely happy with it and am more confident about using it as my primary carry.

I love this gun!!!! Wow, is it odd to love an inanimate object? Anyway, this EMP hasn't had one malfunction since I got it back from SA. And, is it ever accurate! I had one mag grouping that took out the entire bull at 7 yards. Once my CHL finally arrives, I doubt this will ever not be by my side--except at work, of course.
