However, the many millions on either side are only as strong as those that vote. I am a member of both the NRA and AARP, so that means I get to vote twice.
When my late wife joined the AARP we did not know this, when we learned it and tried to find out how to change it, we discovered that they do not consider themselves a membership organization - where the members actually have some say in the organization - they decide what's best and tell you what it is, like it or not.
My late wife resigned - and for years I got mail addressed to her, even long after she died and at addresses where she never ever lived - I consider that to be harassment on the part of AARP for my activism in trying to get people to quit, or not join, but proving it is next to impossible as they keep their mailing sources secret.
The fact is that AARP offers can be had just by asking for them at any place that offers them.
