I have four that I carry regularly. A lot depends on how I am dressed. My HK P7 is very easy to conceal so I wear it during the warmer months and around town. If I carry my USP Compact .40 I have the P7 in the console. When I go places where there are lots of people I carry a weapon with higher capacity mags, usually my Glock 22. I carry my Sig Pro some as I like the way it feels as well.

Thanks for all the responses; I found most of them interesting and/or enlightening. I am somewhat of a minimalist myself, so I like to go with fewer options that will cover more situations if at all possible.

As the Song says, "Its the Time of the Season". I carry different weapons depending on how I can conceal them.
Everything from a Butt Pac to a IWB Holster. That's what works for me. And if a guy just has one gun and it breaks, he's out of luck.

Apropos the conversation, I just added a 642 Airweight to the armory yesterday for pocket carry in a Desantis "Nemesis" pocket holster on those occasions when IWB with one of my larger pistols just doesn't work. So now, that is
3 different weapons/calibers to be familiar with - the 1911 Kimber in 45 ACP, the H&K USPc in .40 S&W, and the S&W snubbie in .39 Special. Again, the prospect doesn't bother me because the most important element in the system is me, and I'm capable of learning proficiency in all three.

Because 38 wasn't quite big enough. I know I'll pay the karma price and have a typo eventully.

Exactly. Excellent post & info.
I actually have 4 carry guns. 2 are 1911s & the other 2 are snubby revolvers. I have 2 or 3 holsters for each. IWB or OWB they are still at 3:00. Other option is shoulder rig too. (thanks flint.

)
4 guns but only 2 platforms & 2 carry set ups. Not a lot for the old man to remember.
I do recomend to all new to carry folks that they carry the same weapon in the same place as much as is possible for the first yr. They experiment if you want.

Detective to Teri Garr in Mr. Mom - "What did you use? A .38?"
Terri Garr - ".38, .39, Whatever it takes."

Same gun, same holster, same position everyday for 4 years. I found an effective gun and carry system that works for EVERY single situation and EVERY mode of dress. Not a chance that my hand or my mind will be surprised by a different anything at an important time.
To change what works would only be for for novilty.
