Prayers for Family Killed in Car Accident

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

I hope the accident wasn't caused by a high speed PD chase.

Added to my prayer list.

It wasn't. They announced last night that the guy was 46 years old and from New Orleans. He was in a rental vehicle and speeding excessively because he was late to pick up his daughter from his ex-wife. Two cars had already stopped at the red light before he swerved to miss them, went over the curb, hit a fire hydrant and went air-born. His vehicle hit the van at window level, then struck a truck before landing on its side across a six lane divided major street. :banghead:

He is in critical condition at the hospital. Charges are pending. I hope he makes it, but pray he has to pay dearly here, then be judged accordingly in the afterlife for the lives of the wonderful people he killed because of his blatant disregard for anyone else's safety. :mad5

Just an update.

A memorial service was held on Friday at our church with about 1200 in attendance. It was a very beautiful and moving celebration of their lives. The families are very strong in their faith and that will help them through this ordeal.

On another note, they released Thursday that the driver of the other vehicle was doing 98 MPH at the time of the crash. This is in a 40 MPH zone. :mad5 There were no signs of any intoxicants in his bloodstream. He was just apparently late to pick up his kids from his ex-wife for visitation. :banghead: He has been charged with 5 counts of manslaughter. He is reportedly still in the hospital and is paralyzed from the waist down. I pray that God will work through him to bring something good to his and others lives from this tragic event. Please continue to pray for healing and understanding for all those who were impacted by this senseless tragedy.

Opening this thread back up.

Over 2 years later this case was finally brought to trial this week. The individual who is paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair was found guilty on 5 counts of manslaughter. The sentencing phase begins today.

Please keep the families and friends in your prayers as we all try to bring closure to this terrible tragedy.

My last update: sentence has been handed down; 15 years in prison and $10K fine.

While no amount of time served is enough IMO, and while he didn't receive the maximum of 20 years, it is still a significant jail term. I hope he thinks every day about his senseless act of selfishness that cost the lives of some of the most wonderful people ever.

They are already in God's healing arms. But, as I lost my youngest daughter last year to a auto accident, I know it doesn't heal the pain.

As one of my favorite C&W songs says: "I'm not crying 'cause I feel so sorry for you...I'm crying for me'.

May God, in his boundless mercy, grant you and your family in Christ, peace and healing.
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... (Jefferson quoting Beccaria)

... tyrants accomplish their purposes ...by disarming the people, and making it an offense to keep arms. - Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, 1840

I'm so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine how one would survive losing a child.

15 yrs is a little punishment for killing 5 people, life with no parole is a better outcome. Or, maybe is someone will lend the killer a rd in revolver and let him play russian r.
