I'd say anything with 3 digits - .223, .308, .357

We're newbies at these here storms. Not having lived anywhere near a coast since around the mid 70's--hope we went and got the right stuff:
Water
Margarita mix (hey.. its got calories right ?) and that stuff folks mix it with.....
canned food (yumm Dinty Moore stew!)
batteries
ice chest and some ice

Got my laptop and BBerry charged up

We're not expecting a huge hit-- but the power goes out here on occasion during a bad storm. I guess we'll look for a generator or two one of these days.

Hope all goes well for all of us on the coast !

I tanked up my vehicle yesterday, and I think Mars topped his off today. He also filled a few gas cans.

I already had the basics in the closet, but went out today for extra water, batteries, and non-perishables. I picked up a few candles at the Dollar Tree. Mars picked up ice on the way home from work.

I also took the dog for his shots. I need to put the records in my important documents bag in the closet.

A visit to my allergy doctor resulted in antibiotics and additional instructions to open up the lungs.

I brought in all the outside furniture I could carry myself. Mars moved the BBQ pit and Ping's cat house in the garage when he got home from work.

Guns stay in the ready position around here, so I'm not too concerned about that.

I should probably call my uncle in Seabrook and see if he & his dog (Benelli) need a place to stay north of town. (I can always make room for a dog named Benelli.)

Tomorrow, I'll wash the dog so that I won't have that eau d'canine smell meandering through the house should we lose power and it gets muggy. I should probably go to the library for books; if we lose power, there won't be any online reading.

I'll get Mars to wash the tubs so we can fill them with water. Tub water is good for washing up and for flushing the toilets should the power go out.

At 4am, it's starting to look better for the Houston area and worse for Beaumont / Port Arthur.

A few more hours should tell.........

Just so everyone knows we went through this storm yesterday and barely noticed it going by. It is not packing much umph at all. Also just so you know exactly how coastal I am I including a map and picture of the Port. You can't get any further South in Louisiana. We are completely surrounded by saltwater and there is no reef, barrier or anything below us. Just open ocean.

We've still got a bit of rain, but it was more like a heavy rain than a TS here. It was actually kind of pleasant.

Looks like I'll move the patio furniture and Ping's cat house back outside this afternoon or tomorrow.

I felt sorry for the TV reporters who had to work so hard to pretend it was a real storm.

They kept showing a 1 inch puddle in the Denny's parking lot. It was so sad.

The seagulls were playing in the wind. Some were actually flying backwards. It was actually a pretty neat storm. I didn't even see any lightning.

I do admire the newscasters' talents for continually keeping their stations supplied with material for live broadcasts even though they had absolutely nothing important or new to report. ;-)
