Good for them over coming the BG's.

I attended a class, Full Spectrum Self-Defense at Rangemaster, that covered home invasions, very similar circumstances as in the news story, as the main focus for the class. It was noted that many times one GG is busy(fending/fighting) with one or more BG's, maybe at contact range, and the other GG has to "FIGHT" the BG's off the other GG.

Seems to me that the deadly threat isn't stopped until the two armed punks are not moving around in my house with my wife and kids there.

The problem is in this case he disarmed the burglar and began shooting--in the media's [poor] judgment this is "shooting an unarmed burglar"

I am sure the home owner was in fear for his own life and children's lives, as he did not know if BG#2 had a hidden gun ready to draw and kill him and/or his family.

I very pleased to hear that the GGs and the kids made it without serious injury. I hope he knows in his Heart that he had no other choice but to defend his family. I hope he doesnt let this get to his mind to much.

oh yeah.....and I hope the surviving BG gets what he deserves....the same punishment as his buddy

If I have to take a BG’s gun away from him and beat/shoot him to death with it I will. I will do with that thought that if he has one weapon he probably has another one. If the media wants to rip me a new one for beating/shooting an UNARMED BURGLAR then so be it. At least my family and I will be alive to tell them to shove it where the sun doesn’t shine.

I don't see anything in the penal code about the use of force depending on whether the burglar is armed. The justification is for using force to the extent necessary to stop the burglary. If deadly force is the only effective means you can use at the moment, then that is what the penal code provides a defense for.

Absolutely correct.

A home invader who has driven a vehicle stolen in an hour old home invasion to your home, broken down your front door at 12:23 AM, charged into your bedroom, put a shotgun to your wife's head and threatened to kill her is not a simple burglar - he is an armed robber. Even a junior attorney could make a pretty good case that such an individual who outweighs you by 90 pounds and has been momentarily disarmed of the primary weapon he's been trying to shoot you with for the last several minutes during a desperate fight for your life, and then charges at you, is a deadly threat. The fact that after the first shot, he charged again and necessitated a second shot pretty well speaks for itself.

I expect most folks in the media won't want to get tangled up trying to put an unjustified spin on this one.

I doubt there is anything in the penal code, but there are liberals everywhere... even on grand juries and civil court juries. In my opinion the homeowner did exactly what he had to do at the time. the homeowner had "no knowledge" regarding knives, guns, grenades, etc. that the bad guys had. It would be foolish to thing a bad guy did not have a backup weapon.

One of the reasons we have laws is so that everyone knows what conduct is and is not permitted.

Liberals and conservatives will be found on every grand jury and criminal jury. However, an individual's personal opinions cannot be used to impose criminal penalties on others when those opinions are not reflected in law.

Can't argue with that, but now there's one less, and another who will be spending his time in front of a grand jury rather than on one.

foxnews.com posted a video in which the wife tells her story. Unfortunately just when I thought the commentators were "getting it", they wisecrack that now they are going to buy a candle for self defense. Swing and a miss!

The video is on foxnews's front page, lower right if interested: Intruder's Flame Extinguished

I thought that there was mention of the second BG having a pistol too.
The only thing that would have different had it been my door they kicked in is I would have been using my own gun. I do however find it to be pleasing to me (insulting to the BG :smilelol5: ) when I hear of a BG getting toasted with his OWN (most likely stolen) gun

+1000 for the wife fighting back and +1000 for the husband.....well...TAKIN CARE OF BUSINESS. I just wish BOTH of the BGs were pushin up daisies.
:cheers2: I would like to take them both out for Beer n' Steak dinner.

That is wonderful that everything came out okay. And that was great team work on behalf of the entire family. Certainly they must have practiced for the "what ifs" and had a plan.

The dummy with the shotgun, that couldn't get it off safety, probably had just stolen it from the last home invasion...however, that was his last! :thumbs2:
