This would surely bring the numbers up of CHL and their voices. Any push for change would be appreciated.

Also, I am a Democrat. Many Democrats are shooters and CHLs. It would also get the numbers up if the stereotypes could be dropped and let us all be identified as pro-gun and responsible gun owners. No need to alienate your advocates here.

Indeed... many Democrats are gun owners, shooters and CHL holders. However, very few "hard left liberals" (almost always a Democrat) are supporters of gun rights. So, it might behoove the Democratic party to make a distinction between the two and maybe gain back a little control.

As far as "getting the numbers up", the application for a CHL nowhere asks your political affiliation. In other words, its up to you to decide if you want to obtain your CHL or not, the State and the DPS simply don't care if you are Democrat, Republican, Independent, or nothing at all.

I think you will find that the majority of the folks here are "Conservative" to some degree, but I don't think anyone here claims that attribute solely for "Republicans".

Welcome to the forum, we hope you will stick around and we look forward to your participation.

Flint.

Ok I am confused I was told by the DPS that if you have a deffered adjudicated that is over 10 years old then you would qualify as long as it was not a crime against a individual. Is this wrong? I know you have to have completed it and all be dismissed.

I had thought of fliers for other purposes, but not for sending them to instructors. That's a great idea and I'll certainly do it. Of course, many may think Texas CHL Forum, Inc. is just another Texas CHL Instructors Association, but the two organizations are nothing alike. I'll have to be sure to explain that.

Thanks again,
Chas.

I'm sure you have thought of this, or somebody else may have suggested it already, but if not I thought I would.

Perhaps you could print up flyers, and provide them to Instructors around the state to hand out to their students, letting them know about the existence of this forum. I'm sure there are many CHL holders who do not know that this forum exists. If you were to let the instructors know what your goals are, they would also benefit from these goals as well because it will recruit more individuals to take the classes too. Could be a win win situation for all involved.

Thanks,
Scott

Flyers or other materials, for the purpose of promoting an organization like this...Would it be a little premature, inappropriate or a conflict of interest if we were to come up with some promotional efforts or talking points for the folks doing the booth thing at the TSRA event late next month???

Just shooting from the hip...I would certainly not want to step on TSRA if our group considered doing this...Again, just throwing this out there for discussion...

That's a very good idea Steve. I'll try to put something together and have some fliers. I need to get TexasCHLforum.org ready anyway, but that isn't going to happen before the TSRA Annual meeting.
