Not likely, but you could put a rendering of the Mossberg in there. Then...provide a map to the "real thing".

Yeah, .22 ammo is cheap in general. It seems that QC has gone by the wayside in recent years, too.

When I first got my Marlin 60, The guy I bought it from gave me a bunch of old ammo along with it, probably 5-10 years old. Half of the varieties aren't even manufactured anymore. So with that old ammo, I was getting about 1 failure every couple of mags (17 rounds in a mag).

I went through about half of a bulk pack of Remington Golden Bullet on Saturday, putting them through both my Marlin 60 and my Walther P22. I got some sort of failure (stovepipes, failure to fire) out of the model 60 once or twice per magazine, and a few failure to fires during the session in the Walther. The Walther cycles weak ammo easily, so I never got any stovepipes, but I could hear the difference in the report on the weak rounds when they fired. I checked the failures to fire on both guns (and tried firing again in DA on the P22), and the strikes were definitely good, the primers simply failed to fire.

I ran a box of CCI Mini-Mags though both guns at the same range session, and experienced absolutely no failures. The reality is, most ammo manufacturers know .22 ammo is cheap, and it doesn't pay to make it reliable - people generally lay down money for the cheapest bulk pack they see. You can get better ammo in bulk packs, but you're simply going to be paying more for it. As I've always had good experience with CCI ammo, you might take a look at their Standard Velocity bulk packs. Cabela's sells them for $32 per 500 round box. I'm personally going to grab a box next chance I get and see how it works out. I've got a bulk pack of Federal that is unopened that I'm going to go through first to see if there is an improvement in reliability there. I don't have high expectations, based on your experience posted above, but it's already paid for.

Well the Federal Value Pack .22LR has been reliable, I guess. Just a couple of failures in about 500 rounds so far. But it has just not been as hot as advertised. It has outperformed my dad's bulk pack of Remington Golden Bullet which produces FTFs at least one in 10 rounds when running through his H&R revolver.

Next I will try either some Federal Champion solid-point 40gr bulk, American Eagle 40gr solid-point bulk pack (both advertised as 1240+ fps in 40gr should be considerably hotter than the 750 pack I have been using) or maybe a box of CCI Blazer instead, if I can find it anywhere.

Yeah, it ain't worth the $5 difference in price, I'm coming to find. Hopefully the Federal will be sufficient for my plinking purposes.

The Federal #750 bulk pack from Wal Mart is IIRC $13.47, very close to the same price as the Remington Golden Bullet.

Other than not holding the bolt open on the last shot, and of course the excessive drop at 100 yards, I have been pretty well pleased with it.

The Federal #510 bulk packs of 500 are just a few cents more at Academy (if you can find them in stock). $13.90
