Sounds like a rumor to scare the masses even more.
This is about the third "alarmist" post I have seen from you in as many days... Trolling for conversation perhaps?

Excuse you!!! This is not the only message board I frequent, and when someone else posts it at the other board, I come here to get information on it. How extremely rude of you to call me a troll. I don't post here that much because of the attitude of a lot of the members here, and you have just confirmed it. I came here to this board because I received my CHL about a year ago, and came to learn at that time. I am also a 40 year old mother of two whom I homeschool.

Charles, please remove me as a member of this board. I've had enough of the gool ole boy attitude here, and I refuse to take it any longer.

Guys, we really, really...don't need this kind of thing. The lady asked a sincere question...and said up front she had her doubts about the information.

A little joking among ourselves is one thing, but belittling someone who simply asked an honest question is inappropriate and unacceptable.

If you read my response, and think about it from a logical perspective, you may note that I did not call you a troll, I asked a question based on the logical inference that the last two threads you started were both a bit alarming in their nature and thus fit the profile of one who may be trolling.

My apologies, as I was not calling you a troll, nor was it my intention to say you were a troll.

Yes it is unacceptable and it violates forum rules. We just lost kitty as a member and I don't appreciate it one bit! We've been trying to encourage more women to join TexasCHLforum and this doesn't help.

I agree that this response was totally inappropriate and uncalled for. I try to stay out of forum problems but in this case
I feel I must speak out.
Kitty: I am truly sorry this happened and would ask you to reconsider your leaving the forum. Your contributions are welcomed by most on this forum.
Charles: I am hopeful that you will take appropriate disciplenary action against the offending member.

Kitty sends a strong message to all of us that participate in this forum. Forum bullies and smart alecks can destroy the good work that other members have accomplished in building this forum as a place to seek responsible information. I trust TomC's message is the sentiment felt by the majority of the members of our forum.

I think both parties were wrong, but neither should leave because of it.

The issue is electronic communication with no ability for immediate feedback. We are essentially muzzled from one of the most important aspects of communication - nonverbal. It supplements everything we say in real life.

We all can be guilty of leaving fully developed thoughts unsatisfactorily transmitted onto the screen. So, we should read and reread our posts to consider how they will be interpreted. On the receiving hand, we should read and reread posts to see if the poster might not have meant something as maliciously as it initially seemed. Then, we should give them the benefit of the doubt until or unless we know that they intended harm. A response to a topic usually takes a few seconds to write and submit and will be available to read for a long time. . . a lot of comments come off of the top of the poster's heads instead of from the core of their deepest thoughts.

Hopefully there's room for that here. . . I try to have patience in online communities and seek reconciliation when I mistakenly offend or feel offended. I wish Kitty had taken this approach, regardless of how regrettable the initial statement was.

:iagree: Kitty didn't deserve that shot. :nono: A sincere apology is in order.

On that subject, I just bought the last two WWB of 9mm from our local Walmart. The sporting goods guy (older than me) told me that Walmart's cartridge warehouse was empty ??? He also repeated the story about time dated primers/expiring ammo, etc. Hopefully it's not true but the story IS going around. :banghead:

Well there's been lots of talk on the FN forum about the "lead free" primer in the 195 ammo, something about a 10 year shelf life. But no one seems to be able to quote that from the actual manufacturer.

With that said, the Elite Ammunition blog has a FAQ section and there was a question about ammo shelf life (below is the question and answer):

Q. What is the shelf life for New Manufacutred Elite Ammunition?

A. 10 years

So I guess there is some ammo that might have a shelf life but we are still talking about something much longer than 6 months. I would think the 6 month rumors are indeed "bull". Not sure who would start that rumor since in my opinion it would make people NOT stockpile because what would be the point?

Anyway, interesting topic...........one that is on several other forums. I just don't buy into the "shelf life scare" but did find that response from Elite Ammo rather interesting.

There have been a few troll accusations on here lately (couple of months). Don't remember who or what threads as I usually ignore the suggestions. Kitty, stick around, I learn more than I contribute here and it is fine group of people that frequent this board. I think many are just jumpy with the anticipated changes we face in the world of firearms. My other comment, an attempt at humor, on this thread was geared toward the rumor of 6-month ammo... My apologies if it was in any way offensive. -John
