Whatever happened to the street sweeper, and the USAS-12. Seeing this Saiga reminds me of my loves past.

Classic Arms, Inc. is selling the Saiga 12 for $569.95 and the Pro Mag (10 round) for $39.95.

Just an FYI.

They've seemed consistently to be good about pricing during the current ruckus; seem to keep their margins steady based on supply, not demand. Their base Saigas and AKs are going for only a bit more than they were last summer. But ya gotta catch what you want in stock, and that can be the tricky part because inventory moves quickly.
I've been wanting a Saiga conversion from Tromix (
http://www.tromix.com/saiga.htm), but Tony's been backordered for many months. I'm waiting on one gun that longhorn_92 is familiar with

and have decided to be on only one extended waiting list at a time...

I just bought a Saiga 12 from Mississippi Auto Arms for $540 w/ a 12 round surefire mag. Also added a Tromix shark brake to the order. I am curious how hard it is to convert the stock "sporting version" to the version you have. What does it involve? cutting/sawing anything like that? I'd love to hear any info you have on getting it done.
If anyone is interested,
http://www.Mississippiautoarms.com has like 139 of em left at $540, they are a little hard to get ahold of but very nice over the phone.

To move the trigger forward some holes have to be drilled and some opened up, nothing more than a hand drill needed, but I used a drill press. There are many websites with detailed instructions. Once dialed in, these things are devasting.

So you didn't run into any snags along the way?

To say no would be a lie, but it's been months and I don't remember them. Buying the gas regulator helped a BUNCH with mine, my buddies not so much. Just do it and learn and hopefully you'll remember more than me.
Here's the link to the regulator.

What type of magazine do you recommend? I know there are a few that you should not get...

I haven't had any trouble with the Surefire mags, or any mag as long as they're second generation, the first generation didn't have enough room for the top shell to move making it nearly impossible to insert a full mag. The clear ones tend to hold open the bolt on the last shot but will drop the bolt when the mag is released, but I think they're out of production so it doesn't matter. I shot it last weekend and ran 100 rounds thru it with no problems. Here's a vid shooting #4 1550fps magnums last weekend.

This is probably a dumb question, but can you shoot bird shot through these (more ammo, less cost)? Shotguns are probably one style of firearms I am least familiar with, so go easy on me!

Yup, I've shot light birdshot loads, magnum loads and slugs, all fed great, there's a gas regulator on the Saiga's that must be switched when going from a light load to a heavy load, but it's as easy as turning a knob. I have the MD Arms gas regulator, a must have IMO, the stock one has 2 settings and the MD has 4 which is useful for only allowing as much gas as needed to function the action without allowing too much which can damage it over time.
