Much of 42.01 is a class c misd.

Also assult by threat or provocative contact is a class c... If it is commited against a person meeting the family code definition it is assult - family violence, and would still be a class c offense.

Hmm. I missed that. The punishments in chapter 22 (assault) are complicated.

But the federal definition of domestic violence (Lautenberg amendment) is more strict than the Texas definition.

Probably no one who has been unable to get a CHL because of an issue of this type is willing to talk about it.

It can get very complicated when you consider how open the definition of family violence is...
