Thanks for all the replies. Well I pulled the trigger and bought the PB9108LP at 649.00. The Sporting Arms in Lewisvile had it for 569.00 including the CC surcharge but I would have to have driven for 6 hours and spent 50.00 for diesel. Mow I've got to go to Wal-Mart and get some shells and hope they are less than the 23.00 Gander wanted for their cheapest shells. I can't wait for it to get a little warmer this weekend so I can try it out.

While I was there I also picked up a Mossberg JIC 500 pistol grip 12 Ga. pump for good measure.

Ah, man...I didn't get to put my .02 cents in the pot... oh well.

I bought a RIA(Rock Island-Commander sized) a couple months ago(gunshow-whim), which is obviously not a Colt or Spring'r. Congrats on your purchase 1911's are great gun, no matter how archaic .

I just got back from Wal-Mart, bought two boxes of Winchester Target/Range with 100 rounds for 31.47 each. Much better than Gander's cheap brand at 23.67 for 50 rounds.

Gander Mountain has gone nuts with their prices, on most ammo they are twice if not 3 times higher than other places in town.. It's crazy, but they have a hard time keeping ammo on the shelves, so they must be doing ok I guess. The ammo I shoot in my 30-06, Winchester 180 gr silver tips, 64 bucks for a box of 20 . I'm real low on .45 ammo, about 70 rounds is all. The other places that sell ammo in town have horrible selections, and I dont care for switching brands when I'm used to shooting it. Kinda hoping the prices will drop soon so I can stock back up, but I wont hold my breath on that. I've been itchin to shoot, so I might just have to give in.. I have a feelin Santa is going to bring me 250 rounds of .45 ACP though Another 750 rounds and I'll be happy.

See, that's why I asked for the model number. I was looking at the wrong Mil-Spec Springer! That is a much smaller difference than the roughly $200 difference I thought you would be looking at, and I wouldn't want that kind of drive and gas cost, either. I didn't know where you were. My apologies for trying to lead you astray. Enjoy your new pistol!

I have not seen a PX9109 priced at $649 for a while. I remember pay slightly over $723 for my PX9109. Given to inflation over the past few years, that's an excellent price.

That's an awesome pistol for the price. For the price, you can get 2 CBOB for the price of an Ed Brown counter-part with money left over for ammo. lol..

On the side note, my PX9109 will eat ammo without a hiccup. Ammo that wouldn't feed in my Kimber. lol. Now that's reliablity.

That's what I was saying. Without knowing what model number he was looking at, we couldn't really know how good or bad of a deal he was looking at. He could have been looking at a great deal like at 9109 for the $649 or a not-very-good deal of a very basic GI mil-spec for the $649. I just picked the 9109 model number because it is one I was familiar with.

I have a few Kimbers that I have had alot of success with thus far! They easily have 2k+ rounds through each with zero issues to date.
My next 1911 will be a Les Baer TR though. :)

Oh, well, my 2 cents are from stupid anyway. Congratulations on the purchase. I would suggest to also buy some hollow points and shoot 50 of them to ensure the reliability. If you have money, buy an AR to support the American freedom!!! the AR adds a whole fun!!!
