I realize this, Jim, however you provide a lot of very good food for thought. I have read many books on self defence and are continuously searching for better answers and you have provoked me many times to dig in and research a subject. I take the responsibility of carrying a gun VERY seriously and the last thing I want to do is make a critical mistake. Both you and Excailber have given me much to think on and have helped me to understand and see these situations from a different perspective.

Maybe there should be an extra (voluntary, of course) field in the profile, displayed with the name on each post, for professional qualifications.

In most cases, it would be difficult to verify. The people who really are experts often want to remain anonymous so that what they write cannot be used against them in some way.

In various forums, I have learned over time to tell who has proven knowledge and expertise, and who is hauling around a manure spreader.
