I typically shoot at least a few rounds off-handed on every trip to the range. That has resulted in the only malfunction I've had with my gun. It's gotten me thinking about clearing malfunctions while shooting off-handed, now.

I shoot IDPA as often ...
IDPA is the next step most CHL'ers need to take. It will teach you things about yourself and your equipment you just can't get plinking away at that bullseye target at the public range. When a stage comes up requiring off hand shooting it quickly makes you wish you had practiced it more.

I'm left handed, and I do two things at the range: 1) I regularly shoot one handed; and 2) I regularly try shooting with my right-hand. Just in case.

You might just get addicted
IDPA is a great opportunity to learn about your equipment and how to handle it a bit better under stress. Plus the other shooters are darn good folks.

It did occur to me last year that i need to be able to use the other hand for shooting.
Sometimes i'll ride my Goldwing on trips and if a serious occasion may arise ( i hope not). I would be able to shoot with my left hand since the right is the throttle hand.
After a few times at the range it seemed to be more natural using it. It seems my left hand likes the 9 more than the .40. I guess too much "thump"-LOL
Happy Shootin'

I think the main idea of practicing with the off hand is in the event the strong hand gets injured (or perhaps pinned down in a struggle). Can't really imagine ever shooting from a
moving motorcycle under any circumstances -just far to many things to control there. But getting that off hand injured is very plausible to us riders (Kawasaki Nomad here).
