I'm catching enough grief from the few people who know I carry for having a round in the chamber... so I don't even tell them the safety's off. I figure the full trigger pull before the first shot can be fired and my holster that covers the entire trigger is safe enough.

Anyone else's thoughts?
It is a Browning Hi-Power. That is the way it is supposed to be carried. The gun is single-action; the hammer must be cocked for the trigger to do anything. This carry condition is known as "cocked and locked", or "condition 1". The 1911 is (generally) carried in the same way - hammer cocked, safety engaged.
