If they follow their normal marketing model, the guns should be available around June.
Then of course there will be a recall around November.![]()

Re: Ruger's New Pocket Revolver The LCR
According to Ruger, the MSRP is at $525. I don't see there being the rush on these like we saw with the LCP, so we'll probably actually get these for a bit under $500. The LCP had its very low price going for it, pretty much undercutting every other gun in its class. Not so with the LCR. While the polymer framing is novel, there are plenty of compact .38+P revolvers cheaper than the LCR. Rossi R35102 revolvers go for $250, a S&W 642 goes for $425, a Taurus 850 for $325, and so on. If Ruger is just WAY off with its prospective MSRP, maybe there will be a rush to buy them up. I don't see that happening, though. It needs to go for considerably less than the S&W 642 before people start snatching them up, IMO.boomerang wrote:If the street price is close to the Taurus 85 they might have a winner.

MSRP is alwasy super inflated IMO. We will see what the market bares when it simmers down and is not the newest kid on the block. I like it. I think an older generation will most def. not because polymer is involved. But no matter your tastes, you have to give it to Ruger for doing something not already in the marketplace and I think that is what will make it sell assuming everything on the function side of the gun goes swimmingly. If they were in the same range as the LCP, I would mos def. buy one.

??? The snub nose 38 Special has been around for eons. Ruger's version is a nice reinvention of the wheel. It would sell like hotcakes chambered for 327 MAG in in a six shooter offered with with a two and three inch barrel option, displacing the SP101 in that caliber. Undoubtably there is more to come from Ruger on this one.you have to give it to Ruger for doing something not already in the marketplace

Real genuine 100% American plastic. No internal locks, no hammer. Wow! Just what a modern revolver should be.

Interesting pic matching up the cylinders of a J frame and LCR in an overlay.

I meant the design itself (polymer frame, trigger system, extreme light weight) is not found in the marketplace, not the actual device. Also, on the Downrange TV video, they say they have 3 patents pending on this gun the most important having to do with the trigger pull. It sounded interesting to say the least. I suggest you give it a watch. As far as .327, I will take a older but proven round over a basically brand new round. Thats all we need is another calibercasingpoint wrote:??? Two of a kind. Must be some sort of Darth Vader dark side thing. Makes you wonder if Ruger isn't in cahoots with Federal/ATK, bringing both to market at the same time. Lest you doubt the possibility of a conspiracy, the two did it last year with the 327 MAG.

Does anybody find credible this ballistics test on the 38 Special Nyclad from a two inch barrel? Eighteen inches in denim covered gelatin. Really. If these results are accurate, it's easy to see where the 327 MAGNUM is headed with 15 inches of penetration and .55 inches of expanded diameter. Right to the bottom of the toilet. As a matter of fact, you can flush the 357 MAG, too.

' Seems like I heard that just over two decades ago when there was this newfangled round called "Smith and Wesson .40".
But, I do agree when it comes to some of the rifle cartridges in the last few years.
Time will tell with the .327. The LCR certainly looks like a good candidate for it.

Re: Ruger's New Pocket Revolver The LCR
The 327 MAG penetrates three-four inches deeper and expands wider than 38 Special when shot through heavy clothing over gel. This is the self defense handgun round of the future. If you want a three inch barrel gun. What happens with a two inch barrel is apparently something no one knows yet. If that last inch in three is is a real powder burner, there may be a considerable drop in velocity, knocking the round back into 38 Special territory. It's going to be interesting to see if Hornady begins making a 327 MAG Critical Defense round.

Re: Ruger's New Pocket Revolver The LCR
Dick Metcalf has written a lengthy article about this pistol in the latest issue of "Guns and Ammo" magazine.
One on the points made is he shot 100 rounds of +P 38 Specials in 15 minutes and his hand felt fine as the felt recoil in this pistol is considerably less due to the polymer materials used to build it.
A five shot pistol is far too anemic in the capacity department for me, but a quite unique, reasonably priced five shot, yeah I'd buy it. However, if it costs in the plus $500.00 range, there's no way I'd even consider it. For that kind of money I could choose from a number of sub-compact (if size of the pistol is an issue) high quality, much higher capacity 9mm autos.
