The rule already went into effect. If he wants to undo it, he has to go through the comment process again.
Relax, everyone.
We still have park carry.
Are you really surprised? Is ANYONE who has paid attention during the campaign really surprised?stevie_d_64 wrote:...But I do not appreciate that the simple wave of a hand, less than half a day in office, and the current administrations first newsworthy act is to put at extreme risk our right to keep and bear arms, and the lives of the unborn in peril...

No, I knew some things like this were coming, and on the National Park carry thread (here) I told folks this was probably going to happen with a new Interior Secretary coming online it just may...Kythas wrote:Are you really surprised? We all knew this was coming whether we admitted it to ourselves or not. Otherwise there would not have been such a run to buy weapons everyone pretty much knows Obama will put a ban on, and the empty ammo shelves everywhere is a pretty good testament to that also. Have you TRIED to buy .223 ammo lately?
Hold on to your guns, boys and girls - and your wallets. The next 4 years is going to be a wild ride. We all need to be vigilant, though with Obama's attitude toward opposition that's already emerging, he really does think he's The Obamessiah, as shows by what he told Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) who was objecting to a proposal by Obama in a White House meeting yesterday:
"I won," he said, according to aides who were briefed on the meeting. "I will trump you on that."
Apparently with Obama, it's my way or the highway.

I am very confused. Your father has not lost any rights to carry into Yellowstone park. If we act on rumor and mistruths its not going to very fun for gun owners, libertarians or conservatives the next few years. Obama is going to cause us enough real stuff to get mad over. We shouldn't be letting the press scare us over nothing. By scaring us into not carrying us with rumors the liberal press gets their gun controls without Obama or Pelosi having to do a thing. we make it way to easy for them.stevie_d_64 wrote:Like I mentioned in the other post here...
My Dad left yesterday for a trip to Yellowstone Park to take some pictures and stuff...He's retired and has earned these fun little trips...
What had been planned and discussed between he and I about the trip and what he was going to take changed because he caved at the last minute and decided not to carry his firearm with him on this trip...We had it all worked out...And always the way we plan our trips to support out right to keep and bear arms is factored into the equation...
I have to say I am dissapointed (and not surprised) by the new administrations clear message delivered by the media to instill enough doubt into the minds of some people to change their minds and create enough hesitation in regards to doing something to protect yourself (just in case)...
I'm sure my Dad will have a great trip, and it will be enjoyable...But I do not appreciate that the simple wave of a hand, less than half a day in office, and the current administrations first newsworthy act is to put at extreme risk our right to keep and bear arms, and the lives of the unborn in peril...

Something happened in September of his first year that distracted him. But It wasn't him that initiated it. Congress made moves to legislate it, the parks department decided they wanted to control the way it was headed. and perhaps let the rules change procedure kill it. While it doesn't appear that Bush did much to encourage the rules change. He could have killed it easily if he had wanted. Simply by speaking out negative against it, or have the AG or Homeland Security kill it. I don't even see this bill as 2nd Amendment issue, but rather a states right issue. The rules simply acknowledge that the Feds don't make better rules than the states.bayouhazard wrote:Putting a hold on pending rules from the previous administration is de rigueur. No surprises there.
If Bush had been pro-gun he would have changed the NP carry law his first year in office rather than his last.
