Does it make sense to "invest" in AR's,etc w/ the AWB coming

I didn't buy either of mine as a financial investment. I bought them for the use they were designed for - if it ever comes to that. Call it an investment in the future of my country, if you want, but they are not now, nor will they ever be, for sale. And if it ever comes to the point where we are required to surrender them, well . . . . Texas is a big state, PVC pipe, plastic bags, and cosmoleen are cheap . . . . AR mags prices have gone insane. you use to be able to buy Magpul PMags for $15 ...now they are $30+.

Brownell's will still sell them to you at their listed price $13 and fill them as they receive product. They are running about 3 to 4 weeks behind right now. A Magpul rep said that they should be back to a 100% on-time delivery schedule by March. I'd just wait until prices return to normal.

I project that if we don't hear anything from Congress or the White House by this summer regarding an AWB then prices of ARs should get back to near normal. With the economy the way it is they have more important fish to fry.

It occurs to me that the Obamantion has indeed enacted a "stimulus plan" that is working...(even if not by design). If you look at the increased sales of firearms and related items over the last 4 months...it represents a welcomed income to vendors of the same.

I doubt the "anointed one" realizes this just yet....but his anti-gun views and policies have definitely sparked the economy in at least one area.

you're a little late to the party if you want to "invest" in AR-15s now. you could have bought stripped lowers for $99 in Aug and Sept. but around Oct when people started really panic buying the price went up and probably won't go back down for some time.

not only that. but good luck finding an AR now. stripped lowers and complete rifles are on a 2-3month back order and that is conservative estimate. i think some AR builders are on a 3-6 month backlog.

Keep checking Academy. I just bought a brand new Bushmaster on Sunday for $999.99...they also had 2 M&P Ar15's on the shelf for $1099.99. This was the Pearland Academy.

I've had PMAGS on backorder at Brownells for 2 months now.

I ordered a DPMS .308 upper a couple of weeks back. I was told 9 months before I get it. :(

I've wondered if a new AWB would be similiar to the 94 setup -with pretty much the same semi-auto rifles selling with a few features stripped off to pass the law's goofiness. I bought a new Bushy DURING the last ban and it shoots just fine (has the standard stock and no flash suppressor.

I'm not saying such a ban is not an issue to oppose, but if you can still buy a slightly stripped down version then I see no reason to run out and buy at the current premium prices

In retail environments when the price gets raised and people buy more than ever why would they lower the price when supply is available. You are already paying the high price, they can just keep a room full in the back and only put one or two out at a time. The Gander Mountain near my house was playing a few games like that. They also stopped any lay-away on all tactical weapons. I have an AR15 already, but I WILL buy another before another year passes for sure. Like other have said time and time again there are bigger fish in the fryer than an AWB. Plan on getting what you want when you can afford it simple as that. Buy more than one cause you love em not cause you you want to make money on them...

I actually got in on a group buy and am buying 14 stripped lowers at about 90.00 ea and rifle kits at about 480. shipped,so i will be able to put together CAR 15 w/16 bbl for about $570.00 my cost

I'm not worried about a ban. I'm more concerned about the government "stimulating" us into a new Great Depression. If that happens, I think many people will be eager to sell their "pre-crash" rifles for pennies on the dollar.
