I like my Springfield 1911 Micro Compact a lot. Its rarely not by my side even thogh I like my XD9 Sub as well. I would suggest another forum for you to check into if you haven't already: http://www.1911og.org

I purchased a Rock Island compact (3.5 bar) two weeks ago, and have been very pleasently suprised with it. I wanted to try a 1911 and frankly that was all I could aford at the moment. I had planned on it strictly as a range gun - due to the low price I didn't expect it to have the reliability to be a carry piece. I have put 350 rounds through it and so far have had obly one FTF with it and that was in the first magazine I ran through it. I have put 250 rds of hardball and 100 rds of JHP with only that one FTF.

Accuracy is fairly good for a 3.5" barrell though I have some problem focusing on the sights. I was also shooting low until I got used to the different angle of the grip from my Glocks.

As a carry piece it conceals well though it is a lot heavier then I am used to. Has a few sharp edges that need to be rounded off as well.

It is interesting that the 45 ACP cartridge was developed because of problems in the Philippines: After we took over control from the Spanish natives would attack US forces with bolo knives; the .38 caliber round we were then using would not stop the subject before they could do damage with the bolo.

GOT MY KIMBER CUSTOM II from my FFL!!! Gosh, I love the way this gun is built!! Will post pics soon. I have only one regret.. I did not order it w/ night sights...Can't wait tio take it to the range..

Wow, I was originally from the Philippines and I know what you just mentioned re: the 1911... Never had the guts to tell that story though, people might tell me my nose is getting longer or leave their leg alone!!LOL!!!

+1 for diode. I have the 9152L & really like it. Kimber Pro 4" also. The night sights are worth the difference IMO. Either way you won't be disappointed. Keep hidding the $

Cool, if you happen to have a pic of your 9152L could you send it to me. I was leaning toward that one and was curious what the sights look like. Do you use it as a carry gun or just range shooting?

Hey, just save a little longer, my Kimber Ultra CDPII is the last in a long ling of 45's for me going back to 1970, all have been Colts until now, I still have my Colt/Clark combat, but the Kimber has been great. It's light and easy to hide, and shoots like jack the bear. You will not be sorry with the 3' weapon, it easy to shoot and not too much more felt recoil that my Colt officers model it replaced.

Longtooth's 9152L posted in the 1911 pic thread. (Hope you don't mind Longtooth) The sights are adjustable with tritium insert if I'm not mistaken.

I just picked up my second Kimber, an stainless Ultra Carry II. I wil shoot it as soon as I get signed up at the local range. I certainly hope it shoots as well as my Pro CDP.

Does the new one have an internal or external extractor??

KennyLee you scoundrel you. You beat me too it. No I did not mind at all. Yes I carry it. I use the C-TAC in the pic. I am experiminting w/ OWB for the 5" barrel. The sights are adjustable & reall good. I posted that I liked them better than the K's. I am running too close on time this afternoon to take other pics but will get you a couple tonight that are close ups of the sights. SINCE I HAVE LEARNED TO DO THAT NOW.

Mine dosen't shoot as good as my Pro-carry but it is still very good

Internal. I had heard bad juju about the external extractor. It is used, new to me, excellent condition, barely shot. The owner just never shot it and decided to sell it.
