From the Darwin Awards website on rules - a story must meet the following criteria to qualify:

Reproduction
Out of the gene pool: dead or sterile.
Excellence
Astounding misapplication of judgment.
Self-Selection
Cause one's own demise.
Maturity
Capable of sound judgment.
Veracity
The event must be true.

I must apologize. I repent of the mean-spirited things that I "said" about the young man that shot himself. I just have a very wicked sense of humor, especially when dealing with the criminally stupid.
