One primary fact: In virtually every mass shooting that has ever occurred, the murders were stopped with a bullet, fired either from a defender with a gun, or by the mass murderer's act of suicide. That in itself clearly and decisively illustrates that the faster a defender arrives with a gun the faster the killings will stop. You can't get a defender on site any faster than having one already present. DUH!

Actually, this statement is incorrect. It is preventative. Can someone tell me the last time there was a shoot-up at a location where there was a known potential armed resistance?

And it is preventative in the sense that if a shooting does occur, it is more likely to be limited in scope vice mass.

This guy is unreal and totally does not know what he is talking about. It is the same old thing..."just roll over and play dead" "Let them have what they want" these people are wackos. We have all heard about the NC shooting at a nursing home. One lone LE went into the building with his gun blasting and stopped the murderer in a hall. There is no telling how many innocent lives he saved, because he had a gun and was willing to fight. If one of the nurses had a CHL they could have ended it before he got there.
McKenzie said the massacre would have been much worse if not for a single shot fired by a decorated police officer Justin Garner, 25, who was Carthage's only police officer on duty at the time of the shooting. Garner shot Stewart in the upper torso while the two traded gunfire in a hallway. Garner himself was shot three times in the leg.
Roll over and play dead, or get into the fight with all you have in you. I had rather fight like a warrior to the end, rather than be gun down laying on the floor playing dead!
Anyway...who is this guy and what is he doing in TEXAS?

What's missing from this sheepish student's understanding is that the entire concept of "gun free zones" is a fantasy. History clearly shows that laws, rules, and signs do not eliminate guns from an environment unless enforced with airport style security backed by on premises armed response.
Signs alone also don't constitute deterrence. If they did, we could save a ton of money in the federal budget by eliminating TSA screening at the airport - signs prohibiting guns, bombs, knives, and more than 3oz. of liquid in a container are already there.
On the contrary, unenforced signage produces a situation where law abiding potential defenders comply, and deranged attackers don't. The result is a "security measure" that encourages mass murder by assuring success. Nut cases may be crazy, but they're not stupid. Even a cursory look at where these crimes are committed shows an extremely strong correlation with posted "no guns" locations. This is hardly an accident.
The slow learning VT grad in this post is apparently a believer in doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result. Some folks don't learn even from experience and can't be helped, but others with a better grip on their faculties should stop listening to them.

The idea that somebody could stop a school shooting with a gun is impossible.
Darn. Effectively immediately: all police officers turn in their firearms because they are not effective.

Wood is quoted:
“You either play dead or you are dead.”
It's too late to ask his girlfriend and the others how they feel about Wood's advice...rest their souls.

Good catch!
So he went from VT to TU...Good move for such a proponent of a "domino effect" when it comes to your right to keep and bear arms...
So any shootings in "gun-free zones" will certainly be a "domino effect"...At least till the murderer runs out of ammo...

Wonder what Mr. Woods and his buddies at the Brady Bunch would say about the efforts of the Carthage PD's officer who shot and stopped the gunman at the nursing home this last Sunday...
Considering that the officer responded to a call of shots fired at this facility...
A person who was visiting a loved one, who might have been carrying under that states CCW law, probably would have responded faster, with the same results...The murderer would have been stopped...
It is all about keeping the citizens in this country from being empowered, and from being able to pursue life, liberty and happiness...
Once the government takes allof that away from you, why should we want to do anything remotely in the pursuit of those basic freedoms...
I would summise there would be a lot of people go lazy on us, waiting for the government to spur activity, but only when they need us to...
So gun-control advocates, along with liberals, socialists and anarchist are desiring to see the world become one big lump on a log...
Yeah, thats what I yern for.../sarcasm

This little tidbit is contrary to their agenda; ergo, it doesn't count.

yet another article framing the entire argument in terms of mass shootings...
I imagine even if the proponents of campus carry brought up the obvious reasons relating to ordinary-type crime on campus and in campus parking lots it wouldn't make it into the article since that's such a boring topic. You know talking about violent crimes that happen every day on college campuses across the country.

I've got a friend from VT who personally knows Woods, and for what it's worth here's what my friend said about him:
They paint woods[sic] to be a god but he's really an emotional mess and a real jerk. And yea, his comments about a shooting being over in seconds... his gf wasn't killed until almost 5 minutes (300 seconds) into the event. She could have cleaned a gun in that time.
Anyways, hope that bill passes.

Yup, logic and "real life" examples are NOT allowed. You should know that.

What!?!?
"It’s reactive, not preventative.”
Yes, that's the point.
“Everything happens too quickly,” Woods said. “You either play dead or you are dead.”
Just goes to show the how deep the conditioning goes. Even after being "exposed", although I gather from the article he was not actually present during the shooting,
he feels that he is helpless.
Good job there parents!

He is the perfect example of the day care generation.
