With a SmartCarry holster, it's actually feasible to carry while you're working out. Passive101 put up a YouTube video showing him going through the motions running, doing pushups, etc while carrying. Probably wouldn't feel right for everyone, but it's definitely the most secure place to keep your gun - rather than out in the car or in a gym locker.
I tried to find a link to the video, but failed!

that would make me find a new gym
I've considered it, and told the management staff that.
The thing is, my current gym is conveniently located relative to my domicile (less than 3 minutes by car). Of course, it won't be very convenient if I ever need my pistol when I'm there. I would never consider leaving it in my car (the parking lot has notices posted of vehicular burglaries being a problem

), even with the "roving" safety patrol (usually found with the security guard napping in a remote corner of the lot

).
I know some of the members have made an issue of it with management there (and received a reasonably positive reception), so I'm hoping it becomes a non-issue here in the near future.

I'm pretty sure my pistol would be noticed even in a SmartCarry. I usually wear either a singlet or something similarly close fitting when lifting (it causes considerably less binding and chafing on those big lifts).

I hate leaving anything in the car (or truck in my case). It is just so vulnerable to a smash and grab. I think a gym parking lot might even be more risky for this, since I notice a lot of people come into the gym with just their car keys (and hang them on a hook right by the front door... ??), meaning they leave their wallets/purses... and guns... in their vehicles. I'll bet I am not the only person to notice that. A vehicle mounted lock box would be a good idea, but haven't got around to it. Plus the whole bit about the walk thru the parking lot
I put my primary carry pistol in a bag, in a locked locker. That's mostly because I don't want to leave it in the vehicle. I carry my BUG P-3AT in the pocket of my gym shorts -- and I bought them specifically because they have pockets. Actually they are loose fitting (except for the waist band!) swim trunks with pockets. The Kel-Tec is light enough not to drag too much, the pockets are deep enough that it doesn't fall out or show, and I can easily do the treadmill/bike/weight machine routine with no problem.

I carry one of these drawstring backpacks. With a little custom work (kydex or cardboard) inside you can keep everything inside looking nice and neat while giving the appearance that you have thrown a towel in the bag. I see about ten people carrying these everytime I work out. The drawstrings are great to hang on the equipment....it works especially well on a treadmill. Anywhere designed to hold a water bottle is usually enough ledge to hang one of these bags securely.
Mine is NBA and I got it at Target for six bucks. I usually work out between 2200-2330......so I don't get far without my little Glock

I just carry in my Galco Escort fanny pack. 3 months now, no one has asked...and if they do I'll just say I don't want my wallet or phone getting stolen. I carry a Glock 32 in there with a spare mag, wallet, keys, and phone. Your mileage may vary, I don't lift weights, but this works great on the bike and stairmaster. And for y'all out there that think a fanny back screams "gun!", it blends in great with workout clothes.

I'm an avid fitness fan. That said, I've never joined a gym.
I work out at home and for aerobic fitness ride a bike mucho miles every other day. Prior to blowing out my right knee, I would run 10 miles a day. I prefer running or in-line skating long distance, but I've learned to enjoy the scenery as I ride far more miles than I used to run.
I'm never without a firearm.
The convenience of working out at home can't be beaten.
So, if you can work out at home - do so. (why not?) Save the cost of membership, gas, and hassle of having to go to a gym and never be disarmed or be concerned about your handgun.
Just a thought...

I use my daily carry "B.O.B." as my gym bag. It is a Maxpedition backpack (condor II) sans the hydration bladder. I keep all my daily junk in it for work/gym....ok...it's basically a man purse....but it's cool, LOL.
I take my IWB rig and drop it in padded pocket for the bladder, throw a luggage lock on the zipper pulls and I am good to go. No printing, no worries about flashing my gun while digging through my bag. The bag stays with me directly, or within full view at all times. In the lockerroom I can unlock and unzip pouch, put backpack on, remove IWB & gun and place back in waistband in seconds, and unless you know what I am doing..... I would be willing to bet you would never know.
