It's interesting that part of the story update shows they apparently were taking turns shooting at the victims:
"Liberty County Chief Deputy Ken DeFoor said Sheila Muhs fired a 12-gauge shotgun once, then handed it to her husband, who also fired once."

I'm curious about the range, though:
"Donald Coffey Sr. suffered a pellet wound in his right shoulder and his daughter, Destiny, suffered a wound to the elbow. The family friend, 30-year-old Patrick Cammack, was in serious condition Saturday with a head wound, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center spokeswoman Alex Rodriguez said."
So that's four people hit in two shots, which suggests a fair spread, and thus a moderate range. The descriptions of the wounds are consistent with large buckshot. How far out is, say, a magnum 00 load effective in a typical shotgun? I know my 835 with magnum 00 will penetrate wood pretty well at 100yds, but it's hardly "typical" with a 28" barrel and turkey choke, and my only other 12ga is an 18.5" cylinder bore at the other extreme of the spectrum.

Probably not legal or responsible enough to vote, but if they did, would vote for democrats.
Thats funny, because I was thinking the exact opposite.
