Great job keeping a level head. That helped your friends and you arrive home safely.

Whenever I hear these situations, there's tons of "could have/should have" that you can rehash.
The most important thing is, 1) you didn't have to shoot anybody and 2) you didn't get hurt or shot yourself.
3) You didn't end up in jail is also a good one.
considering you meet all 3, I think on that alone you did perfectly well.

Indeed, plus you've learned some good lessons in life. Its rare that happens without it being a bad bad day.
You're getting out of the frat boy age. Time to start orienting out of that.

Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.

I mostly quit going to bars after I received my CHL. I've made several changes in my lifestyle. Carrying a gun has some heavy responsibilities.
Sounds like you handled the situation very well considering the circumstances.

X2..... I haven't been to a bar in a long time. It was never a place I liked to go anyways, I very rarely drink. My 21st B-day I was the DD, I knew that if my friends and I were going to a bar, they were going to get drunk

So I drank diet coke all night, and the plus side the cokes were free because I was the DD... Now that I have a CHL, I dont go anywhere that I cant carry, that tends to change your lifestyle a bit, but for the most part it's for the best.
You did good.. Tough call on the guy waving the gun, only 3 things you could have done.. 1 is get away, which isnt something I'd do with friends and loved ones around. 2 is wait and see what happens, which would be what I would do in that situation, and what you did. 3 is to shoot the guy.
I tip my hat to ya for confronting the guy assaulting that woman. That is one thing I dont stand for what so ever, and you probably handled it better than I would have..

that you did a good job of getting all of your friends home safe without any of those things listed above happening. That was a extremely powerful lesson you experienced and it will stay with you forever and it was worth it to have opened your eyes to see where you are and where you want to be. Good luck!

Good job using restraint and de-escalating the situations you were in, while also being very firm to bad guy #2.

Thanks for standing up for the lady in a bad situation. Now you know that you have the intestinal fortitude. Congrats.

I second BTin, I can not abide a man hurting a woman with either words or deeds.
As for your actions, I wish I would have been so responsible when I was 22! You will do well in life.

I see a few things,
1 - Your maturity in your willingness to step up to the plate to protect friends and strangers
2 - Your ability to calm the situation to a safe acceptable level
3 - Your ability to have every one go home unhurt (other than pride)
So all in all, you did it exactly as you should have.
You de-escalated both situations in a calm, mature, safe, and successful manner
Cudo's to you young Sir.
My hats off to you.

You do realize that this thinking has a high potential of earning you a "ride", don't you?
I don't like it either, but that does not give any of us a reason to become Charles Bronson.
