I bought myself a wallet that comes with a separate folding ID holder. Inside, it has two pockets which are covered with clear vinyl. It's just big enough to accommodate your TDL in one pocket, and your CHL in the other, and when folded, it's not much thicker than both of the IDs together. When you flip it open, you are presenting both IDs to the officer at the same time. I always carry it in my shirt pocket, and that way, it is easily accessible to me if I need it, but I won't forget it in the car.

Mine is brown, but it looks like this:

the only problem with that is ...the officer will always you to remove the ID from the wallet before you can hand it/them to him/her ...at least thats been my experience

I thought rosebud99 was talking about car insurance and other papers people might keep in the glovebox.

But for a non-CHL I don't think it makes a difference legally if they have their DL when they're not driving.
