Jim,

Most peeps that have safe deposit boxes have a "personal" business relationship with the Managers and other Officers of the subject Bank. Therefore a license is not required to prove identity.

Bummer about the theft! A question for the group. I scan all my important documents to color PDFs and keep one copy on my computer and another on a CD in the safe. So, I could print a color image of the license, both front and back. Would that be acceptable proof to continue carrying until one got replacement plastic?

It's better than nothing. :???:

Strictly speaking, carrying without a license is illegal, just as driving without your driver license or insurance certificate is illegal.

Whether you would get away with it would depend entirely on the LEO who stopped you. They can verify with DPS whether you really have a driver license and CHL, or have their dispatcher do it.

It also depends how often you're stopped by cops when you're not driving but a license from another state is a good backup.

I don't recall being asked for my license the last time I accessed it. I guess just having the key is good enough.

If my keys get stolen along with my wallet, I guess I'm up a creek without a paddle.

a photocopied version of the license will not work. once you report a chl lost or stolen, it goes into the database as no license/ certificate active.

I was told by DPS that it would take 3-4 weeks to have a new one sent out, i called the day after i applied online and they said it had already been sent to printing. So maybe it will be sooner.

Even worse its going to take 6 weeks to get my drivers license, for now I have to carry around my passport and the temp license.

Thoughts-

With all the documentation, and sworn/notarized papers, and fingerprints/photos, and harsh penalties for any fraud for a CHL.
And with CHL being issued by the very same Texas DPS as Drivers Licenses. ;

-Surely we deserve a Temporary CHL License THE SAME AS A TX TEMPORARY DRIVERS LICENSE- INTIALLY AND in case of loss .

--We can be verified by DPS computers in MINUTES!-- (and issued a Temporary CHL - WITH the Temporary DL!)

--------------------------------

----This also gets into that "Carrying under Traveling OR CHL", -without the actual CHL card-, and ID-ing to a law officer .

----- DOES IT MEAN ----
-NO CARRY AT ALL?,
-EVEN UNDER THE"TRAVELING LAW"?-IF WE ARE A CHL WITH LOST CARD ?????? -----

(For weeks and weeks or who knows how long!)

Blue

Until September, if you have a CHL and lose it, and don't have another license to keep and bear arms from another state, and you get stopped by the police while you have a concealed handgun, you can have your CHL suspended for failing to show the police the lost license. If you're in your car, MPA should prevent a UCW arrest but you're still guilty of failing to display the lost license when asked for ID while carrying a handgun.

Yes, but with the aforementioned:
once you report a chl lost or stolen, it goes into the database as no license/ certificate active.
If this is so, then the Big Red Box in the Officer's system should no longer be checked, and therefore you cannot get busted, because according to the system, you no longer have a CHL...

At least in theory? Lol

Is that the TCIC database? The "no license/certificate active" sounds like something you get checking status on the website.
