In response to the first
I think most of us connect it far more easily to the way Rush uses it to refer to people "drinking the kool aide" when voting democrat.

Ahhh...ok. I didn't even think of that...I'm with the "drinking the kool aide" crowd.74novaman wrote: In response to the firstcomment, I believe the poster was connecting the kool aide reference to a common racist assumption about increased kool aide consumption among the Black population in the US.

Me too, but just thought yall might want to know why someone might get huffy if they're not a talk radio listener.pbwalker wrote:Ahhh...ok. Re: Kool Aid?
I don't listen to talk radio but I hear the phrase used in business about someone who is an enthusiastic supporter of a new corporate policy or a project. Especially support that borders on blind faith. I also sometimes hear it used about microsoft fans.
I did a quick Google search on the phrase and found many uses to describe fanatic supporters of a company, philosophy, etc. I saw claims that it originated from the Jonestown incident where the followers drank poisoned punch. I didn't see any that mentioned race or skin color.
But if someone is looking for an excuse to be offended they will surely find one.
