Great, happy to have helped. All you need to do is to use a punch to knock out the roll pin on the base of the grip, remove the small plastic covering panel & swap the spring over. I am no smith either but I was very pleased to be shown how easy it is (thanks SRVA!). i have Meprolights on my compact as well - good sights! Let me know how you get on.

Deadeye, can you elaborate on this a bit for an admitted H&K neophyte? What makes this recoil system "recoil less" so to speak? I've shot a rented H&K USP-C in .45 and LOVED it (one of the easiest shooting .45s I've ever shot). I'm guessing this recoil system may have had a lot to do with that.

Oh man, I'm sorry dude. I should have thought of you. The springs are cheap though — $3.99 — and they have them in stock, so it can ship right away. The only problem is that, at $4.61, the shipping & handling was actually more than the spring. That's why I looked around for what else I might want and added the night sights to the order.

I bought an HK P2000 da/sa and liked it so much that I bought a P2000 sk to go with it. I use one or the other all the time. I'd been a 1911 guy for 30+ years.

I have a Sig 229 in 40 that is a great gun, but the HKs feel better, are lighter and more compact, not to mention easy to shoot.

Love HK guns for quality and accuracy.

Have you considered Glock 19? $300 cheaper and not a bit less in quality, reliability or accuracy.

I still cannot justify the high cost of an HK. Just do not see any advantage except for the higher price tag.

New spring is in. It took me all of 2 minutes to swap out the springs. I was surprised at how easy it was. Now I've just got to get the new sights mounted.

You don't have to go to the range to try the DA trigger pull...inquiring minds want to know. Did it make the pull lighter??? Judging by the seat-o-meter?

FWIW:

I've owned handguns of one description or another for over 50 years. I've legally carried a concealed weapon for over 40. Of all of the different pistols/revolvers I've owned all that time I've only been lucky enough to have FIVE that were absolutely reliable, and awesomely accurate right out of the box.

Four of the five were 9MM H&K's.
The fifth was a 9MM Walther....

I'm of the opinion that the Walther P99c/AS is a fantastic firearm, and my present sub-compact 9mm pistol is an H&K P2000sk V3 (TDA). I sold the Walther P99c/AS after buying a new Walther PPS and the PPS was a pos while the Walther was excellent.. I still have sellers remorse over selling that sweet little pistol.

I'm equally fond of my recently purchased HK P2000sk V3... Fantastic weapon, and the only advantages I find in the H&K over the P99c/AS are:

1. Lifetime warranty vs one year'
2. Slightly thinner grip, easier to conceal.
3. P2000sk will accept the 13rd mags of the larger P2000 (using X-grip) allowing for three extra rounds for situations such as home defense use.

Either pistol would be a keeper, and if price is a determining factor I think my H&K was about $300.00 more than the fine Walther.
