I carry my USPc cocked and locked, because my other two carry pistols are 1911s, which I also carry cocked and locked. Nothing extra to remember, since they carry all the same. Besides, a single action first shot is more likely to be accurate — for me, anyway — than a double action first pull.

My primary carry weapon will be a Walther PPS so 6 + 1 in the hole. Pretty much point and shoot if it comes down to it.

I reckon it is "point & shoot" for me.

I rotate between 2 Glocks (safe action), a 5-shot snubby (double-action), and a KelTec P11 (double-action).

P N S = CW40, Double Action Only, pull tha' trigger.
P N S = XD, hold tha' grip and squeeze tha' trigger.
CW40 = carry one hot in tha' tube. ( 6 rd. mag.) 24/7.
XD .45 Tact.= carry one hot. (13 rd. mag.) When not carrying tha' Kahr.
When I'm outta' my AO (A rea of O peration) I also carry an extra mag. on my left hip.
When // if needed.... the only thing I want to think about is clearing tha' gun and getting it on sight !

It looks like the P 'n S carriers far outnumber the C 'n L or DA/SA with safety on folks.

I used to carry only a 1911 C 'n L but as I started expanding my options and participating in IDPA I came to realize the skills to properly carry a 1911 were becoming rusty and the thought of being in a confrontation and not turning the safety off or not obtaining a proper grip on the grip safety started nagging me. So I switched to carry of P 'n S and the 1911s are now range guns although I wouldn't shy away from carrying one if needed.

My HI Power is my main carry at cock and locked. However I often carry a pocket gun which is point and shoot, a KT P 11, J Frame, Glock 26 or Seacamp .32. I sort of rotate between them depending on what kind of pants I am wearing - need really big pockets for the Glock 26 and have some pants with pockets that won't accomodate anything bigger than the Seacamp.

I chose cocked and locked but also carry a point and shoot on ocasion. I like my cocked and locked because it will put real big holes in a bad guy and I am more accurate with it than my smaller point and shoot pm9. Which one I carry depends on my dress style that day. The PM9 is easier to conceal than my Ultra Carry. I find either one requires a pull of the trigger to actually fire so safety is not an issue either way. i just keep my finger off the trigger until ready to fire and all is well.
