For penalty for failing to notify of address change, see GC 411.187(a) (3)....Suspension of License. (P.12 in handbook)

OK...so now you folks are making me question my thoughts on this. Is being a student an exemption the rules concerning the address on your drivers license and CHL?

Maybe, maybe not. I can see if it is you must live in a school dorm. There also might be an exception to military. When I was stationed in San Diego, while in the Navy, my Texas DL had my parents' address on it. This was well before CHL's existed, but none the less I was a Texas resident. If I were 21, in now, and stationed elswhere my CHL and DL would have my parents' address on them. I also lived in the barracks on base. That probably wouldn't even change if I lived off base, since I was still a Texas resident with a Texas DL.

The address that should be on both your DL & CHL should be the address where you can receive mail 24/7/365, and that would be your permanent residence. I assume it's with your folks if you live at home.

Living away while you are at college is considered temporary residence.

Who delivers your mail? The best I can get is 6 days a week. And that's only if none of the 100 Federal holidays are that week. "rlol"

Did you know that USPS delivers mail 365 days a year(if it has special delivery instructions, and you pay for special handling)?

I agree, college is temporary, but the reason of where mail is received is flawed since they will receive mail at both places. It just depends on which address the sender uses. For most things, while in college, the address used the most by a student, living in a dorm, would be a box in the campus post office.

Uh oh! I think I just tripped upon the answer. If you live on campus I think your address is a P.O. Box or something similar in the campus post office. I don't think we can have a P.O. Box as an address on a DL or CHL. It would have to be the parents' house then.

See? I knew you'd come up with the right answer, if I kept yakking away enough! :smilelol5: :thumbs2:
