It'd have to be cheaper than that for me to spend money on an unknown. Of course, it'd make a good beater rifle to use with a .22 conversion.

But I know I want one more than ever especially if the prices continue to drop  Does anyone have a CMMG rifle specifically the M4A3 as advertised? My cousin (ex-military) said to go with a COLT AR and not skimp on quality. Any thoughts???
IMO don't skimp on quality if you're going to do more than plink a couple times a year with it. With prices dropping there's no reason not to get a Tier 1 rifle, especially if you plan on taking any carbine course, using it for protection during dire situations, or throwing a lot of lead during a zombie outbreak, etc.. BCM's can be found or built in the $1100 range easy. LMT's are in the same ballpark. There's even a dealer (think it was Bachman Pawn) at gun shows selling NIB Colt 6920 for $1099.

Do your homework on it and know what you want before you plop down some money.

Interesting how Colts are top of the list, but have one of the shortest warranties.

For what it's worth - I'm not bashing Colts. I just like manufacturers to stand behind their product a little longer.

Based on my experience with a Colt jammamatic .45 some years back, their warranty service consists of "Get gun back, do nothing, don't correct problem, sit on it for a couple of weeks, return to customer. Repeat until customer gives up."

Also note that some Colt rifles have non-standard pins, are missing the (all important! ) bayonet lug, and have a restrictor in the lower that makes trigger work more difficult.

Really Colt, BCM, LMT, and Noveske are all top tier. The Colt ain't any better, it's just the mil-spec standard. I've owned of each, still have BCM, LMT, and Noveske. Of all of them the Noveske is actually the top one. It goes beyond milspec as their barrels have the double chrome lined style ala M249 SAW barrels. I build all mine and use BCM BCG which have the black extractor spring insert and are HPI tested. If you buy it whole the warranty is good if you build the warranty doesn't matter. Most of the top tier companies will stand behind their product even if it's just a complete upper.

Colt did go back to the standard pins. Not really big on Colt, though, because of that whole pin thing.
