If it were mine, I'd clean it really well with saddle soap, and a brush on all exposed leather places.

I would send it back and get a refund. I think the leather would be unhygienic.

That's kinda' what I was thinking. You reckon they made it out of dead animals?

Jimmy over at Kholster got back to me... even though they are on vacation!
Looks like maybe I just got a bad piece of leather. At any rate, they are taking care of me.

I have never seen or heard of any bad feedback from Jimmy, and I've talked to him twice. Just haven't ordered yet. Good old fashioned honesty by all appearances.
Now just waiting to hear from my old buddy USA1..............the hair on the back of my neck is sticking up. I know he's around here somewhere.......

Hmm Mines smells of leather, but I have not had a chance to wear it much yet it makes that leathery squeak when I try to wear it, which was a give away.

I think I heard that if you hang it outside in the backyard it keeps the raccoons away...

the more you wear it , the less it squeaks .
the squeak is from the steel clips rubbing the leather .
i pondered the idea of putting the fuzzy velcro on the inside of the clips to act as a buffer but never did .

Baking soda...?
(Plus a large ziplock baggie... shake well, let set overnight, repeat with fresh baking soda if necessary.... won't hurt the kydex, shouldn't hurt the leather.)
