Lol, Sed is essentially a search and replace, but it's a command line version that is very, very flexible. It's more of a string modifier/parser. Technically it's a '
Stream
Editor'
Formatting regexes for it can be complicated if you're not familiar with it. I was suggesting it more as an outlandish option that, while it would work, would be more akin to building a Rube Goldberg machine for it
Your plan with the search and replace with phpmyadmin should work just fine for this need, and will be much easier to do :)

When the move happens, will the code be adjusted to permit the use of the Back button? I saw a thread on the subject elsewhere--I think in this section. I know that right now, I only have Back button functionality when I link through texasshooting.com.

btw, since I don't know if I've already said it or not, though it is worth repeating if I have... I love this forum. I lurked for a bit before I joined up, but I'm in here daily, usually multiple times per.
Thank you, Charles. And thanks to the mods who keep things well above a pre-school level with food throwing, pinching, whining, biting and the various other things one tends to find in a group of anonymous adults in a place like this.

If all goes as planned, TexasCHLforum will be moved to a new server tonight. I'm more than a little concerned about the "search and replace" query that I have to run on the database, so the site will be down for more than one hour as I anticipated earlier. After the database maintenance is complete, I want to check several posts with links to other posts to make sure everything is working.
Remember to reset your bookmarks to
http://www.TexasCHLforum.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, if you are using
http://www.TexasShooting.com/TexasCHL_Forum" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, as this link won't work after the site moves.

Better make sure it finishes before midnight. No one messes with software on All Hallows Eve.

Correcting links to other threads in posts is going to be a much bigger problem than I thought. I'll have to correct those at some point after the move to the new server and I'll probably be asking someone for help formatting the MySQL query.

The migration to the new server went okay, but I still have to get the header logo and NRA photo ironed out. I'll also work on the posts containing links to other threads in the next few weeks.

Thanks Chas!
If you still need someone for the query, let me know. I do sysadmin work and know many people whose MySQL-fu is greater than mine. I know that several of my coworkers are members here, and I'm quite certain some of them could construct this handily.

I'm here but I have to log in each time. Is this right?

Did anyone else experience shaking and profuse sweating while the site was down ?

I am too, but that problem existed for some people even before the move. It's different now because the logon form is not automatically filled now.

I changed a few settings that may help with the logon issue. I still have to login each time, but the cookie is saving the username and password.
I've noticed a couple of other bugs. I have my browser set to launch links in a new tab, but now when I click a link the new tab opens with me not being logged in.

I wish I had known how TexasCHLforum was going to grow when I launched it in Dec. 2004; it would have been on its own server from the beginning! My one hour migration estimate was off by five hours and it appears I'm still not finished.

I'm on Firefox and set it up to open up a new browser window each time I open a link, and it seems to be working fine for me.
Sorry to hear you are having problems Charles, but I certainly appreciate your efforts to keep this board up and running!
