I have been trying numerous ways to carry my 1911 around the house. Still not sure if I am comfortable the way it feels. I may have to get a smaller framed weapon for carry.

I agree. My Kimber Pro Carry rides in an MTAC, and my CZ75D compact 9, which is "close" to the same size rides in a CTAC.
