This is one of the reasons my PT-145 is only used at the range, and is never used for a carry weapon in any way. I'll stick to my LCP's and XDM for that duty, with my .40 Hi-Power filling in occasionally.

Only if she drops it .
Just kidding.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong , but I don't think the PT709 has that problem from what I've heard.

I haven't done any further research but according to the OP, these models are the unlucky ones.

I can't really speak beyond the information that I posted, but based upon that info, I believe that it is an issue limited to those models only.

Absolutely not. It has the Glock style safety trigger and must pull the trigger to make it go bang. It is my carry and I trust it.

Since the Taurus PT709 Slim went to a double Glock style trigger,
does it still have the manual safety like previous PT111's,
140's and 145's?

Well USA1, me, and many other forum members (74novaman?) are quite sobered by your news item.
If our guns get recalled and Taurus offers us some kind of trade, I wonder which Taurus
models would have manual safeties which work properly. If the newer models have working
safeties, I could move to a PT111 Pro and move up from my current 10+1 to the newer 12 + 1
model.

Howzabout the
Taurus PT1911?
It has a safety on both sides!

It has the manual safety (and as far as I know, ALL Taurie's do) as well as the glock trigger safety.

You're a mind reader.
My expectation of gun manna from heaven (Taurus compensating
us) would be to get a new PT111 Pro for a similar PT111 with the drop
problem.
A PT1911 would be a greater jump up the Taurus food chain.
The PT1911 is definitely under consideration by me for a future gun.
I want the duotone one, which IIRC, is stainless with black.
That bad boy would look good on my hip.
Thanks for the eye candy by providing the pic above!!
