Well they are under Simon Malls which is located in Indiana, good luck gaining their sympathy. Interestingly, there is a move to shut down The Army Experience Center at Franklin Mills Mall in Pennsylvania. Have a read. Can't carry a legally licensed CCW, but the kiddos can fight a war in the mall

This is a private group masquerading their web page as a Commonwealth Attorney complaint. It's completely bogus and even the lefties in Philly would never bring such a ridiculous criminal complaint against the United States government. They'd likely be immediately shut down by the lowest US court with jurisdiction. Article 1 and Article 2 of the US Constitution clearly give the Congress and the President the authority to raise and fund the military, and presumably to set the minimum age for service (17 w/ parental consent, or 18), and the methods allowed for recruiting. They have real machine guns there!!!??? Wow, one might assume that the Army would have real machine guns.

Yeah, I caught that. My point of irony was that they won't allow CCW in the Simon Malls but they have "The Army Experience" (which is a blast for an old warfighter as well) in the mall, Army recruiting has to lease the space like anyone else. Mixed messages?

...leased space = $$$.

I read threads like this and I just shake my head and wonder how many of you guys walk around advertising your carrying concealed? It must be quite a few of you from the way you talk about getting arrested for carrying past the 30:06 signs. Unless there are metal detectors...how on earth is some rent a cop at the mall...or even a legit police officer going to know your carrying? I am perplexed by the extreme concerns over 30:06 signs. Are you guys open carrying or something??? I swear to god....nobody knows I have a gun on me...heck...the one or two people that know I have a CHL don't even realize I am carrying. Folks...cops and security guards don't even think about it unless your hanging with the homies and acting like a thug.

I am not saying anyone should break the law and carry past a sign...I am just asking how it is you fellers think they are going to know you are doing it.

Believe me, none of the security guards at Grapevine Mills are going to notice... they'd be lucky to spot someone open-carrying an AK

There is a police substation next to the security office but there are rarely officers patrolling the mall. When they do, it's usually a pair who make a single loop and leave.

In any case, I've seen far too much of that place, so I don't bother going there anyway. As a mall it sucks anyway.

I'm not worried about getting caught. I'm just unwilling to spend my money where my CHL status is undesirable. I would rather spend it where my CHL is a non-issue. Fortunately for me, the Northeast Mall is not that much further away from me, as I live in the far south end of Grapevine. So that's where I go. But it has nothing to do with a fear of getting busted.

So what happens if for example you stop someone on a Killing Spree at Grapevine mills Mall? Do you lose protection under the law? Do they just give you a slap on the wrist?

EXACTLY!!!! LOL....but I don't believe that is going to happen. They will never prosecute a person who saved lives in a situation where a guy was killing random innocents. Use it to play batman in a less than lethal situation and in most cases you will get throttled wether there is a 30:06 sign or not. We should not be using our guns to stop property crimes anyway...that is not our place. Our weapons are for self defense. I will also add that being tried by 12 is much better than being carried by six. If I ever pull my weapon and shoot, the situation has risen to a life changing point for me anyway...I would prefer to live through it and deal with the consequences than be dead. I can't fix dead. If i am alive, I can work on my situation and maybe do something to make the best of things. The priority in my world is to survive the situation.

I completely agree about not patronizing that mall or any place that chooses to trample my constitutional rights. I am just curious how folks figure they will get caught if they go into one of these places while carrying. I get the impression, at times, that there are posters here who are paranoid about someone knowing they have a concealed weapon. Short of body scanners or metal detectors...NOBODY knows I am packing heat. I am in no way advocating anyone walk past these signs....I would just like to know if anyone really believes they will get outed. For those that really believe you will get outed, I would like to read how you think this will occur. Maybe it is the Hawaiian shirt that gives it away.... . Cops don't have special radar to detect a concealed weapon. I will admit that some cops can sense something is amiss with a real criminal, but to think they can sense your carrying a firearm is right up there with being concerned they can sense you exceeded the speed limit while driving to the mall.

While not quite the exact situation you are discussing, and a place far from Texas, I would have to point out that Bernhard Goetz was found not guilty for shooting the robbers on the subway and sentenced to two years in jail for carrying the gun that allowed him to defend himself.

As a general rule, I don't see that happening in Texas, but I definitely see it as a possibility. Look how many pizza drivers and convenience store clerks have been fired for defending themselves in Texas.

I remember that situation well and in the beginning Bernard got off. He then began to run his mouth to the media and anyone else that would listen. I believe he brought it on himself by failure to follow his 5th amendment rights. My personal perspective is that I am never going to draw my gun unless the situation has risen to life and death. At that point, going to jail will be the least of my concerns. Staying alive means more to me than staying out of jail.

For realz? I guess I haven't lived here long enough to know of any such cases.

Here's a situation that occurred in New Mexico only a few months after CCW was passed there. I lived there at the time.
WalMarts in New Mexico are about the only places that are legally posted as to no concealed handguns. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to see that was not the case in Texas as I had always assumed that they probably were posted in all states.
A CCW holder was packing illegally in the WalMart when a man who had been after his ex-gilrlfriend came in and started stabbing her.
The CCW pulled his weapon and shot the BG.
WalMart did not even consider prosecuting.
While this obviously has no bearing what so ever on Texas, I would hope that the same logic would prevail.

the AMC had signs posted improperly but I dont know if they changed them. And have you those gigantic 30.06 signs at Grapevine MIlls? Any company willing to do that loses my business. I am sure however that thier unarmed security force will be there to take a bullet for me should danger arise.
