Does technology allow prohibited information retrieval for unscrupulous businesses that scan drivers licenses and how would that information benefit them? (not including sex offender status)

Anyone know?

This is what they do at Seguin ISD, too. It looks like one of those business card scanners advertised by Office Max and the like. You get a sticker/badge the size of one of those "Hello my name is..." ones you get at High School reunions and it has your picture, name and destination on it. I prefer it to the old ones where we had to fill out the info ourselves, especially since my penmanship would not receive a passing grade, even with current grading rubrics.

And yes, they can/do keep the scan on file, because I've not had my DL scanned since last year, yet I get a properly printed (with photo) sticker every time I go to the school. I think all they keep is the photo linked to your name. Whether or not this is legal, I do not know.

Private clubs that are in dry areas scan your license for access to bars etc - it replaced the " Unicard "
