Good point. Go over every part of it to make sure every box is filled in.
Something as minor as forgetting to indicate..male or female can cause a delay.

Don't hesitate to ask us any questions , no matter how silly they may seem.
We're here to help . ;-)
Yep...this was my fun thread. lol

Just got home from my CHL class.

I took it from Clear Creek gun range in League City. My instructors name was Al Trug. I had heard some negative things about Al in the past, however he was an amazing instructor. He was really helpful and humble. Never made us look stupid and encouraged "dumb" questions.

The class was some what boring yet there were only 3 of us in the class, so it was more hands on. He gave plenty of breaks and even bought us breakfast and lunch! I learned plenty, not only about CHL but laws regarding force and deadly force. I scored a 100% on the written exam and 193/200 on the shooting (it was 21 degrees with an 11 degree wind chill).

Some guy had a stroke in the parking lot, so we stopped class to help and call 911. Life Flight had to come in and fly him to Herman Memorial (hope the poor guy is okay). Anyway, I think the state of Texas should consider requiring some type of class that teach the laws to gun owners. After learning what I did today, I'd say that most Texans that own a gun do not know the real home defense laws.

All in all the class was successful and I am excited! I plan on overnighting my packet on Monday!

Well done.

Recommend running copys of all paperwork for your files. Helps at renew time or if problems arise. Hopefully yours will go thru swiftly.

I totally agree. Making copies of EVERY piece of paper you send them can help you down the road if a problem arises.

Hummm, must have REALLY been cold. In warmer weather, the max score on the shooting test is 250 (50 rounds, 5 points max each). :tiphat:

I once was shooting at the Bullet Trap, when the outside temps were in the low 40's. With the ventilation blowing COLD air down my back, my hands were numb and shaking LONG before I wanted to quit. I sure wouldn't want to try to qualify in an 11 degree wind chill -- buuurrrrrrr.

Took my class at the Bullet Trap in December. We never got shooting scores. We got Pass/Fail. Instructor told us they are forbidden from giving us our proficiency scores, period. When the last set of rounds were shot, the targets were left at the furthest distance, the instructor asked us to step away from the line, and he collected targets after we returned to the classroom.

Interesting -- We were GIVEN our targets, after being scored by the instructors. (Not done at the BT). Only Pass/Fail is reported to DPS for both written and shooting tests.

Same here. In fact, after the proficiency test, we were given our targets and were told to take them back to class(the range was about 10 miles from the classroom). We turned them into the instructors, and after class and grading them, they gave the target back to us to keep.

Same thing for us. Ours were graded and returned to us.

We brought our targets back from the range and then brought them up to his desk to get graded. He counted them up in front of us, but kept the targets.

Our Instructor looked at our targets, marked us as PASS/FAIL and tossed them into the trash and made it clear that we could recover them if desired.
