LTUME1978 wrote:I keep getting emails from others stating that there will be a $50 tax on each gun we own as part of our income tax this year. Supposidly something the Obama folks pushed through without anyone knowing about it and that all of this had been confirmed as true.

What is the real story on this?

Thanks!

HOLY COW! I just got an e-mail from my mother-in-law...stating that we will have a 50 tax on all firearms in 2010!!!

Will this thing just STOP! If I had a penny for everytime I heard/read this somewhere...I would have a lot of pennies!

IMHO, the next time someone posts and asks what's the deal on this, the thread should be deleted, and the poster should be directed to XtremeDuty.45's thread enumerating at how bogus that bill is. This thing won't die! :rules: :mad5

BTW XtD.45, thanks for creating that thread! :thumbs2: :tiphat:

No problem...my m-i-l stated that she checked ALL the verification spots and its true :mad5 .

So I googled it for her and within seconds sent her all those links and thought I should post them here for future reference.

I hate to tell you fellers this, but it is true. I know because I have been put in charge of collecting said tax. You send the money to me and then I issue documentation to you that is to be submitted with your tax returns showing you paid it. PM me and I will get the address for you to send payments to. :coolgleamA:

All kidding aside... I overheard a retard working at Academy telling a customer this was about to happen. A week earlier I over heard the same retard talking with a fellow retard about how much they hate it when customers act like experts on guns and correct them in front of other customers. Needless to say, I decided not to correct said retard since I would not want to irritate him. I would love to see the qualifications in writing for working at an Academy gun counter.:

I think everyone who falls for this silliness should be fined $50 for being so ready to believe it. If you pass it on, you pay the price! (Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?)

I think I would have spoken to said retard's manager.

Oh, and I think the qualifications are "must be able to breathe unaided."

lately when I get one of these I hit reply-all and then proceed to write:
This is complete and total bull. If you don't believe me go to the post office and get a copy of the 1040 and look at it for yourself. However, if you want to stop something like this from happening in the future then please go to the NRA http://nra.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and click on the "Join the NRA" button at the top. it rotates between renew and join but just click it and follow the directions.

If that doesn't pan out, you can always take advantage of the gun show loophole to get some cheap M-16s and hand grenades, then make a fortune smuggling them into Mexico.

Also buy that stuff from Flea Markets and garage sales. Picked up a nice FN Minimi at a garage sale just last week.

Sweet! All I could score was a BAR with a rough finish, and a four-deuce mortar from the estate sale down the street.

Folks,

Thank you for the information. My apologies to those that thought this was a dumb question. I have always been told that the only dumb questions are the ones you are afraid to ask.

LTUME1978, there's no need to apologize. Please don't take offense to what we've said. We are here to learn....ALL of us. And I know I do daily. It's just that most of us has seen that vicious rumor circulating so long, we've memorized both bill numbers.

Your question was a good and valid one. Thank you for posing the question, and keep asking away my friend! :tiphat:
