cubbyjg wrote:Regarding the dispositions for each offense, can those be ordered over the phone or do i have to go to the actual court? For example, i got a pedestrian in roadway a while back (2003) in Austin and got it deferred. Now i work full time monday-friday so its hard to make a day trip to Austin.
Also, are the dispositions required or optional? I should be receiving my application packet soon since i just applied online.
Not positive , but I think you have to show up in person to get dispositions .
As far as "required or optional"..I think..required. If you don't send them in with your application , DPS will most likely send you a letter requesting them.

Sweet, nothing should disqualify me. I guess even if I can't get a final judgment for the Illegal U-Turn, that shouldn't be a disqualify as it is still pending.
I have tomorrow off, so I'll be driving to Fort Worth and Grapevine to take care of it all.

UPDATE!
Well now I'm just irritated at Federal student AID.
After calling and paying the complete amount last year (right before I re-enrolled in college), I log onto their system tonight, and it says I still owe 56.00. Not a huge amount of money, but, I already paid the amount they asked for.
My concern now is calling in to pay the rest off today, and mailing everything off next week, and while it's being processed DPS running it, says I'm still in default, WHEN I'M NOT!
This is all some crap I'd have to deal with anyways, as I am going back to school anyways, but now it may interfere with my CHL. I'm calling down to the liscensing division in Austin tomorrow, let you know how it goes.

That's a good idea. You should ask to speak to someone in the Legal Dept.

Well, I went to the tarrant county justice center downtown. This was a waste of time, the guy there told me to go to each individual municipal court. I called grapevine and euless and they had it. They both sounded very intelligent and knowledgable on the phone.
When I got to Euless I was met by a rude woman who had no clue. She troed to do what she knew. She basically printed a receipt and stamped it, and signed a certification stamp.
I'm sitting in the grapevine waiting room, the clerk here is the one I spoke to over the phones, its going to take a few minutes to get a certified copy. At least it seems like the person here knows what's going on.

I know how frustrating that is! I had to go to Euless city hall twice myself. I'd explain to the Grapevine clerk(who understands) what you are trying to do, and ask him/her how to ask the correct question to get what you want/need from Tarrant county.
From what you've said you got from Euless about the same thing I got, and I sent it in.
My epic adventure started at the Tarrant County Sub-Courthouse in Arlington. After 20 minutes of talking to everyone I could think of, I found computer terminal in the lobby and tried to look up the county clerk. They had 8 or 9 of them. Fortunately they had a phone next to the terminal and I started calling ALL county clerks listed. And I had to explain my request in detail to all of them. Phew. What an ordeal. I finally wound up with the criminal district clerk who had me in their records. Once I found them it was all downhill from their. I got the directions to their office and everything clicked.
Good luck to you!

Thanks man. Both letters really just showed there was a zero balance, guilty plea, so I guess all should work out! My only regret is wasting time driving to Fort Worth and having to spend 9 bucks to park for 20 minutes!
The person I talked to at the licensing office in Austin made everything make a lot of sense, nothing disqualifies me, just need to declare it. Someone reviews it, and me having all the paperwork there for him/her makes it so they don't have to contact me, but they will if they need to solve any issue.
Seems like the DPS isn't all bad.

It took mine 12 days to go from "packet mailed to applicant" to "processing application". But that was last September.
The next message you'll get is "processing application". They don't post when packet is received. That's why a lot of people mail it certified mail, return receipt requested, so you'll KNOW what day they receive it. Sounds like that's what you did.

Nah, I just sent it first class mail. The automated postage center said it was 1.95 for first class, and that it took 2 days. Versus like 15 for 2 day service... No brainer. Wish I sent it certified or delivery confirmation now. I guess after 2 weeks I'll call in to see what the deal is.

They cash the check quick but it takes a couple weeks to update the computer.

Yeah, I did it all online, so no check.
