That's a thought, but no, I was thinking of something too horrible to contemplate for we of the CHL community, but also would be perfectly acceptable to the anti's.

My daughter carries under Utah non-resident. One reason...and one reason only. Cost. The Utah permit cost 65 bucks(roughly) and the half day class cost 75. That is a grand total of 140 American dollars. The Texas class... 120 dollars...100 rounds of ammo 30 dollars.... fee for Texas 140 dollars... that would be a grand total of 290 American dollars. That would be a double folks. Now my daughter is married and her husband also carries under Utah. Yep...double again!!! For a husband and wife team to have a license(to do what the constitution already says they can do ), the total cost for a Texas CHL is 580 dollars. The total for Utah is 280 dollars. I realize some folks think a three hundred dollar difference is no big deal, but to working folks it is a big deal.

I would also challenge those that say they think the Texas class is somehow better because it requires a shooting session, to show me where in the constitution it says one must first prove one is worthy before one can exercise their RKBA. As my second statement about this "shooting test" I will just suggest folks go through some of the posts on this forum and read some of the stories about complete newbies passing this test. Sorry folks...it just ain't that difficult shooting a firearm. I watched a guy go from not knowing how to hold the pistol to making 4 inch groups at 15 ft just two nights ago. It took him about 5 minutes.

In my rant I forgot the coolest part. Utah permit... 10 dollar renewal...no class. Texas....Class for another 75 bucks minimum another 100 rounds at 30 bucks... another half day down the toilet...and 70 bucks to the State... that is 275 dollars... WOW!!!! 10 dollars vs 275 dollars???
