I think it's better to have an alarm that notifies me. Add some external cameras that I can view over the internet if an alarm comes when I'm at work. I can call the police if I need to.

I think I may need to apologize to the OP.

I understood the post to mean that for police monitoring, you had to fill out their form, but now it appears, that just to have an alarm, it's supposed to be registered with the police and you have no choice about it and the permit is required for all alarms.

I sent a note to the NRA. They dont need to know that. If a LEO isnt already assuming that a gun may be present in the State of Texas they need to find a new career. Now on the level headed side I doubt the City of Frisco is behind a conspiracy theory plot to ban guns and take over the world, its just on principle they need to be called out on it. Governments do not need that information for any reason.

As much as I agree with that sentiment....would you BELIEVE that there are actually folks in Texas that own ZERO firearms???? A few of them are my friends...I've tried convincing them!

What happens if you say "no" (lie), then later get robbed and file a police report for stolen firearms - when they ask for receipts to prove ownership, the purchase dates are from before the alarm was activated - would those purchased before the activation date be covered? Not that I am endorsing lying on any forms - just curious.

I always try to follow the "honesty is the best policy". The times I have tried to ehhhh let's say "white lie" about something it seems to turn into more work than if I just told the truth. IMO I think they just want to know so that if there is a BG or homeowner or both to let the responder know to be alert for guns.

I bet that is exactly what they are worried about. I have worried about it for the police as well. I would hate for a Police Officer to get shot by a bad guy with one of my guns while the officer is responding to my alarm.

LOL...anyone else think it is funny that a post starts out about an alarm permit asking if a gun is on the property and ends up in a debate about which city services should cost extra and which city services should be paid for out of city taxes. I know I do.
