Again, federal law is pretty explicit in this case. You can ask as many times as you want, it won't change the requirements. Can you sell it FTF and not get caught? Probably. Will the world come to a halt? Probably not. Could you get arrested and charged with a federal crime? Absolutely. It's your call.

The issue is....I, as a Texas resident would be selling a pistol to a Indiana Resident, both being in Texas at the time of the sale.

1. Doesn't matter. It's an interstate transfer. (If it was a long gun, you could make the transfer at a Texas FFL; the handgun must be transferred in Indiana.)
2. Doesn't matter. It's an interstate transfer. (Residency is what counts, not where the transfer happens.)
3. Doesn't matter. It's an interstate transfer. (Ditto.)
4. Doesn't matter. It's an interstate transfer. (Sale, gift; doesn't matter. It's an interstate transfer.)
5. The issue is, you're a Texas resident and he's an Indiana resident. That means that, by federal law, the transfer of a handgun must be done by an FFL in the recipient's state of residence.

We all know that this is wrong, but that is what the law is. We also know that illegal interstate transfers take place all the time, especially between close friends and family members. And, we know that for the most part, nobody cares.

That's what the law and the reality are. Make your own informed decision.

If this guy is someone you have known forever and trust him, the odds of anything ever coming from him borrowing your weapon for an undetermined period of time are about the same as getting hit by lightning while your cashing in your multi million dollar winning lotto ticket. I don't know anything about cash changing hands... never happened.

No, I didn't stop quoting too soon. Making an informed decision as you suggested may be flat breaking the law. If caught the person will give the 2nd Amendment supporters a black eye! I see no reason to even suggest that anyone should break the law on the Forum. Not even if they are willing to take the consequences for their actions.
