What does Heller have to do with the use of a CHL for I.D.?
My response would have been to ask them if they heard the "good news". The Supreme Court of the USA had made it clear that the 2A is an individual right (Heller). I live in Texas, where it is still somewhat free. I would act astonished that they did not allow conceal carry in Kaliforinka.

I would be polite, as I want to be a good ambassador.

Again, the Texas CHL is a valid state ID, and I would brow beat them on that point. :patriot:

Okay, but you weren't talking about carrying or even transporting a weapon which is where I thought you might have been going with Heller. Otherwise, I still don't understand the relevance. California does issue CCW licenses. I agree that our CHL is a state issued I.D. and should garner more respect, as should all states' CHL or CCW licenses that have a photo, but at the same time I'm not sure other states are familiar with it since it is not a drivers license. And especially, like someone asked or pointed out, were these folks LEOs or TSA? A CHL may not be on their's or an airline's list of approved forms of identification. I don't know.

Get out in the country and many if not most are conservative and pro-gun.
That's even true in Texas. Look at the city governments in Dallas, Houston, SA, and El Paso. Or look at Illinois: geographically, it's 95% rural and pro-gun. Population wise, it's 80% Chicagoland. Same for New York, or Maryland.

The difference in Texas is that we have a bigger proportion of rural voters, and four major metro areas in the state, not just one or two.

The folks in Bakersfield, Mendota, or Yreka feel just as frustrated and isolated from their state governments as those in upstate NY or western Maryland.

Grew up there. Have to fly there for business very month or so. Last trip I felt like kissing the Texas ground as soon as the plane landed. California is not nor will it ever be the real United States. There is no freedom, life is incredibly hard and the simplest tasks become enormous chores. No thanks. I love my new home. I now understand why there is so much pride here. I may be new here and some of you natives might resent new transplants but l love this State and consider myself a proud citizen of this fine Republic.

Shouldn't a California trip thread be in the "Never Again" section? :anamatedbanana

There are folks from one agency or another that check and make sure people are not bringing illegal fruits or vegetables into the country. I'm not sure if they are real LE or something else, like TSA people.

The 'fruit police" have entry stations at major roads leading into the Land of Fruits and Nuts. It's their job to see that land travelers do not bring any fruit disease into their land of plenty. As usual, some are pleasant and some are self-important protectors of their world. We ran into both species last summer. I assume that they are impowered to search your vehicle, so we put our hardware into the RV prior to entering Kalifornia.

These inspection stations are part of the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA)

The last time I checked a Texas CHL is not a form of ID and cannot be used as one. I don't remember anything from the 2009 legislative session that changed that. So, I would count myself lucky if anyone took it as a valid form of ID even with hassle. That is just my personal take on not having the proper form of ID when I choose fly.

If anyone can show me where my statement is false I would appreciate it very much.

This is what my CHL instructor taught us.

Not only is it not a form of ID in Texas, CA does not even recognize it. Much less TSA

As it's been 7 or 8 years or so, I believe there are "Fruit Police" (not sure if they are State or Federal) on I-10 as you leave El Paso. I've had to stop there every time enroute to the DFW area. I grew up in NYC and have lived in the PRK, but I got to Texas as fast as I could ;-)
